I just got this notebook last week (Friday), and I haven't done much with it except play a couple games. After installing a driver update to the Intel integrated graphics card (videos in Chrome were jumpy and this solved it), I watched a couple youtube videos before going to sleep and shutting down the laptop.

Come next morning, I power on my machine and the headphone jack stopped working. It detects that something is plugged in and shows that it's trying to make noise, but doesn't seem to work at all.

    Welp.

I've tried a plethora of different things, like installing/uninstalling various versions of the RealTek drivers, and altogether rolling back the machine to before the Intel driver was installed, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Edit: I also updated the nvidia drivers as well, is this potentially a conflict between the HDMI audio output and the 3.5mm audio output? If so, how can I resolve this?

Are you using HDMI out when you run into this problem? Usually only one default playback device can be designated at a time.

No, I'm not. Doing a clean install of the provided (and outdated) nvidia drivers fixed the issue with the audio jack though.

Glad you got it worked out. I had a similar problem - fixed mine by going to the latest RealTek driver on their website rather than ASUS's.

If you need the VGA drivers for your notebook, click on this link to our website http://support.asus.com/ServiceHome.aspx?SLanguage=en and search by your model notebook.
