    I can´t info about this.

The ASUS V1Jp which has ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 with up to 512MB HyperMemory, does it have any dedicated on board RAM on the graphic card ?

    Thanks

All discrete cards have dedicated RAM. I would suspect 256 for the X1700. The rest is dynamically allocated from the system RAM.

But I'm no expert on these things (i.e. numbers for video cards). Anyway, there certainly is dedicated RAM.

This is what I see, even when running benchmarks like 3DMark05/06, it also states it is 512mb, however a few do argue that it is 256mb. Either way it still performs well. You can have a look at the reviews of the V1JP and the G1 and G2.

They don't mention it there because the manufacturer can put however much RAM they want on the card.

wii, if you can wait a month or two, the V2 will be out. If you prefer portability over power, the V2 will be a 14" laptop with a Radeon X1450 (about two-thirds as powerful as the X1700), but with features that are very similar to a V1.

In my opinion, the V2 also looks better. If you don't need a laptop right at this moment, the V2 is definitely an option to consider. As you get closer to the time when you need the laptop, I recommend filling out a FAQ in the "what notebook should I buy" forum so other notebook experts can advise you.
