I have had my ASUS V1Jp for a few months. Recently, I had a power outage. All the lights in the house went out. My laptop went into power-save mode: screen brightness dropped to minimum. That's when I noticed that the illumination on the LCD of my laptop is not even. The right side of the screen was still readable, but the left half was almost completely dark. Asking other ASUS V1J/V1Jp owners on this forum to duplicate my experience. Turn your screen brightness down all the way in a darkened room and see if you see the same thing. I am wondering if this is a design feature of the LCD, or of a defect with mine. Please let me know what you find out. Thank you!

I only see that at the lowest brightness setting in a completely dark room. I'm not bothered by it since I never use the lowest brightness setting in a completely dark room.

    It's not a bug - it's an undocumented feature!

LOL. You guys are making me feel very small. But, I do feel reassured that this is not indicative of a flaw in my system. Already have had to replace the DVD player, so I am a little gun shy with this unit. :(
