Has anyone actually been able to get Vista SP1 installed on their ASUS V1S? I checked the list of unsupported drivers here and it looks like the fingerprint reader may be the culprit. I downloaded an update from the ASUS support site but Windows Update still doesn't show SP1 as available...

I have SP1 loaded on my V1S with 64-bit Vista Ultimate, but have not loaded SP1 on my 32-bit instance (I am triple booting, right now with Vista x64, Vista x32, and XP 32-bit until I can fully transition to Vista x64).

I DID try to load SP1 on my existing (NOT a clean install) 32-bit Vista before, but it never completed, so after the 3rd try, and having to restore my image, I decided to give up until a later time. And, I may not bother if all of my stuff installs correctly in 64-bit.

    Thanks for the info DTrump.

I think I may have found the issue. While I did update the fingerprint driver, I think I still had the Realtek AC'97 driver that M$ says doesn't work. I went to my device manager and uninstalled the audio driver, and then let Windows search for a new one. I let it install the generic Microsoft audio driver (which may or may not suck, but I did a test and I still get audio out of my headphones). Then SP1 was showing up in the auto update download list.

I will try it now and report back if it works or not.

Oh great. Now you got me thinking about trying it again, and doing that. :) I have the Realtek drivers loaded, though, so I doubt that will be the issue.

What video drivers are you using? I have heard that they can be a culprit with SP1, as well (there was a list I saw online that listed all of the components/drivers that caused SP1 problems, but I can't find it, right now).
