hi all,
i have a V6J laptop with GeForce Go 7400 and an external 22 inch LCD monitor from samsung (analogue). When i switch the display to show on external monitor, my samsung display will constantly have horizontal lines going up and down the screen. It seems to be a refresh rate problem, but the refresh rate is at 60hz, which is the only option for most lcd monitors. the resolution is at optimal 1680x1050. It seems to be a driver problem but both the nvidia and samsung 2220wm drivers are installed. can someone please give me new idea as to how to fix this?
thanks,
-
Are you sure it's not a ground loop problem?
Search for "w3j ground loop" on this Asus forum, you will find an old thread with a lot of info. Maybe it's that and not the driver. -
thanks, the problem seems to be the same. I dont see the flickering anymore after i switch the battery. However, when i plug in my ac adapter to other outlets i can still see the lines.
is this problem specific to notebooks only? desktop machine also use grounded power so i suppose it will also have the same problem? -
It depends on the configuration and sensitivity of the devices.
I suggest:
- plugging the LCD in a different outlet (perhaps using an extension cord from a different room)
- 3 to 2 prong adapter (you lose ground connection though, can be dangerous to the equipment in some instances)
- plug the laptop and/or LCD into surge protection unit
