The V6j here (link above) seems to sell for an unbelievably low price -- at least $100 Canadian lower than any other other store here in Canada. Anyone smell something fishy? Computrak's selling the previous model (V6Va) for $200 more. Can this possibly be a typo? I'm thinking of selling my gaming desktop (bought only 2 weeks ago.. found out I don't game a lot.. don't ask...) for the V6j and it'll be nice if I can get it for that price.

No... the price is reasonable. Although it's on the low side. Check: computers canada. They are selling for only $50 more.

That's cool. Does anyone know if the v6j comes with a glossy screen? I'm buying it for sure if it is.

I hope V6J dont comes with a glossy screen. Glossy screens = problems with reflecting light (which means problems with tired eyes). According to this review, the screen is matte: http://www.cnet.com.au/mobilecomputing/notebooks/0,39029089,40060374,00.htm

It will most likely be glossy. What do you mean tired eyes i can stare at a glossy screen for 8 hours without blinking. I think it has more to do with the backlighting thats what effects your eyes not the glossy surface. some backlighting is easier on the eyes than others.

I have a feeling it's going to be glossy... you'll have to go back to the original V6V if you want matte.

wow, i'd love to have it with color shine!! but can't find it in switzerland, not even the v6va.

mine (V6J-8001P) has indentical specs except for the cpu (T2400).

for the pricing also think this is very low, i bought mine for 3029.- swiss francs ( http://www.google.com/search?q=3029+chf+in+usd) in the cheapest online-shop i could find.

    cheers, vinz

I just want to let you know a few things:

    1) Computrak's price is great.

    2) Check here for a list of resellers, and check them all out:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=25849

    3) Go to the "1i" for a list of resellers, CTRL+F, then type "1i"

    4) If you haven't already read some reviews:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1397751

    5) The screen is glossy, if you look at the first picture you can see the reflections under indoor lighting, hence it is glossy. :D

    6) You may want to go to your local store and test a Glossy screen and whether they hurt your eyes, as someone previously mentioned its not whether the screen is glossy or matte, it is more of how the back light is. Many users of the V6J love the screen, and the fact that it is very bright, and turning it down will increase battery life and you'll still be able to read it.

    7) I'm sure many of the Canadian resellers are offering great prices and services, you will just have the ease of picking the right one for you, just an FYI our price is $2139 CAD for the V6J.

    8) Enjoy your laptop once you get it, from who ever you purchase it from, it's a great laptop! :D

Which v6j is glossy. you are talking about one they are selling now so i would think the 8022p (t5600 2ghz core duo) but that is what i have and the screen is def not glossy. not like the HP zd8000 which i hae most closely to compare it to other glossy screens i've seen on laptops in chain stores.

did i get a diff screen or something? this was a factor sealed un modded v6j so i can't imagine but this is really confusing me.

even before i got , i wasn't sure and saw all diff mixed info. some ppl/reviews and sites saying glossy and some saying matte.

i started to think it was neither but somewhere in between is wha i settled on but once i got one, it def seems more matte then anything else. there is no gloss to the screen a all.

i know abou the reflection but kind of sucks cus i seem to prefer glossy.

oh well, hopefully the W2P is true glossy like HP's nad Sony Vaios

    Oosa aka usa

speaking of which i find the pronunciation of Asus to be funny in that i have said it 2 diff ways Ace us and As us and Ass iss

and thought it was funny someones name on here is Jack Asus which i thought would be funny pronounced the Aces way.

well asus tech support pronounce it A soose as in Dr. Seus. heh

anyway , why you ask did the NA v6j have diff screen then other countries?

seems the v6j just has crystal shine which isnt' gloss, color shine is the glossy screen and some have both
