Yes, you are right, a HP notebook stated in the title.

After waiting for almost 6 months on an update from ASUS on the W1J and V1J I have decided to look for other brands, rather than only for ASUS.

The W1J should have been released to the European market already, but unfortunately it hasn't, several German web shops do show it on their sites, but as long as it hasn't been released on the Asus global website, I doubt it whether these web shops actually carry stocks of them.

The ASUS V1J, well, the chance seems to be very little that it will actually be released this summer, according to Justin (Proportable) the price will be +2000 USD.

    Macbook Pro
    Intel Core Duo T2600
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB DDR

The HP offer seems to be the best and most competitively priced offer, or am I wrong? Did I forget an important aspect? Is anyone known with the warranty procedure of HP?

I think I might be considering that HP or this new V2000 they came out with. Asus has been flaking lately and I don't like the poorish quality/design of their new stuff.

the thing about the 2 asus notebooks is that they're not available now..which means if you need it now you're looking at the macbook pro vs the hp..honestly the hp is the much better deal...mostly for the heat reasons..it also has a wsxga+ screen vs the wxga+ with the mac...so unless you use mac software you're probably better off with the hp..check over on the hp forums for reviews..there should be one on the front page

I really like the fingerprint reader, the good heat-management, the video card, etc. What I don't really like about the HP is that super high-res screen, I think it would hurt my eyes. At home on my 19" CRT I have it at 1280 x ... I think. That's plenty small for me.

And the blurring that occurs is horrible for text, scaling is okay for me with games but definitely not text. Better to up the font and icon sizes or increase the dpi in Windows, but they have their own problems.

I dunno if you would purchase the HP from HP itself or a retailer, but if it's from HP, mebbe you can call and ask to downgrade the screen to WXGA.

According to some web stores, it's possible to to choose, WXGA 1200x800 or WSXGA 1680 x 1050. I think it's better to educate myself a little better on screens and check some out in real before purchasing.

    Thanks for the help guys.
