When working with the W3J (not playing games) the screen freezes, usually goes to black an after a
few seconds (10) returns (but with some delay when scrolling pages), some times goes to black and
do not recover (the HHD access stops). This also happens (the most) when displaying web sites with
Macromedia Flash content, and when writing MS Word documents. This behavior occurs almost
every 15min. I have tried everything: reinstallation of ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 default drivers,
inst! allation ATI tweaking tools, disabling any possible overclocking settings, and the installation of
modified ATI drivers (available on the internet: http://www. guru3d.com/), unfortunately nothing
seams to solve this issue. The currently installed display drivers, help a little (not so often crashes) but
the problem is still present. The problem is not solved even after full system reinstallation; only MS
Windows Vista Business seams to eliminate this issue - however, I must use XP

Already tried that, it did seamed to solve this issue, but after resuming from Standby/Hibernation state, or cleaning the %temp% files, also crashed. Installing the ATI drivers solely also seamed to solve this issue, but guess what… crashed too. Can you please point any other solution?

I have used the ‘DH Mobility Modder.NET - 0.8.0.0’ to modify the originally shipped ATI drivers, and set the ‘Maximum Video Memory’ to 256Mb. I have installed the ATI display drivers solely, plus the ‘ATI Tray Tools - v1.3.6.1042’, and it is a wonder – since its working as expected, but don’t know for how long
