I'm re-contemplating an ASUS laptop and was wondering about their warranty service. The alternative company I was considering offer a pickup and return service.
Obviously, flaws will inevitably occur for any manufacturer, even ASUS. I'm just interested to see how well they handle such situations. Being as I'm in the UK, it would be a Limited Global Warranty.
Would I need to pay for shipping? How easy is it to obtain an RMA from ASUS? How rapid are their response?

Asus customer service is fast to respond to questions online and over the phone. They will pay for shipping for any work being done on a warranted system.

i was about to send mine in (but it turned out to be corrupt RAM, so i didnt need to send the notebook in), all i did was call them, tell them what was wrong and they gave me an RMA number and a fedex pickup date for monday (i called friday) they were going to pay for shipping, and the phone call lasted about 2 minutes.

they seemed to be very quick, but i dont know how long it will take them to actually fix it though (im from canada though...)

I agree, Asus customer service is good. They gave me a new battery and fixed the camera in my V1Jp all in one (1) day. They didn't even ask to see the official receipt of my laptop. :)

That's some good praise for ASUS!
What about people not in North America? Would I be mistaken to assume that response time would be poorer in Europe (I'm in the UK).

Does anyone know the difference (if there is one) between a Limited Global Warranty (e.g. here) and a Global Warranty (e.g. here)?

    Hi Ultim4,
I've had an experience with Asus Uk. I've bought my A8Js in Portugal but, as I'm currently living in the UK, I had to send it to the UK support service when i had a problem. They picked up (City Link) the computer the next day I phoned and had it returned 4 days after (not counting the weekend). So, overall, quite a good experience.

    Best,

    Nickie

On a similar topic, does anyone know if the warranty extensions are global too? For example, if I bought a UK warranty extension pack, could I redeem it on a US ensemble notebook?
    (I ask because I may end up importing a V2S :))
