Here's a few excerpts from the notebook section of 2009 May/June issue. (note: I only posted the new models. Some of these models may or may not make it to the US/Canada market)

Thanks David. Asus marketing just cracks me up sometimes "Inspired by the ethereal grace of butterflies". Good grief I tell you. It's a nice looking laptop, I just wish Asus would cut it with the marketing fluff.

Haha I wish all the companies would cut the marketing fluff but it ain't gonna happen :)

Yeah, the "golden ratio 16:9 screen for better viewing"... better viewing of 16:9 movies, maybe. Worse viewing for everything else.

The UX looks very sci-fi, I like the styling, although from just 1 photo you can't tell much. I like the U80, it's more down to earth, but has a good config.

Now, if Asus took that G71Gx and made a G50Gx out of it, that would be gravy (especially if 9 cell battery came standard). Otherwise U80v looks pretty nice. Hopefully they will have a higher res option on that puppy.

I'm especially looking forward to the U/UX series... especially since the VX5 only now has the 130M GPU. What a huge disappointment

Why ASUS don't design the chassis to fit 9-cell battery? I will be really happy if my G50Vt-X3 have 9-cell battery and it fit the back of my laptop. I also really like the Lamborghini series, but just like to look at them. They're too expensive :D.

after my continuous research, I was able to conclude from a few sources the u series will come out "some time this summer" according to asus or june/july according to a trusted member.

The vx5 looks really nice. They should have thrown in a 260m though the 130m isn't weak.

And then some. Anything worthy of bearing the Lambo name must be ridiculously fast. The Asus Lamborghini's and Acer Ferrari's have been little more than just the name and styling.

I know that G50Vt have some 9-cell battery model. But what I mean is I wish that ASUS designed G50Vt with 9-cell-fit chassis.

Grrr, UX30 doesn't have an inbuilt DVD burner... Just external from what the above info sheet says. Dammit. Looks like I'll be looking at the Asus F6Ve then.

Or get a external USB DVD drive. About $50 now a days.

I quite like the dropping of the DVD. Rarely use it anyway.

Yeah the EEE doesnt have one and the only time I ever needed it was for OS install and a few programs after that never touched it. I got a slim dvd-rom off ebay for like $30 I think it was.

If they can make the unit smaller/lighter/better without it I am ok with it being gone. Also it makes the unit cheaper of course.

Protip - You can use another laptops or a desktops dvd-rom to install programs and things via network, about the only thing you cant do without one is things that have to happen @ boot like installing the OS, many people just use a usb flash drive to install the OS and work around that problem.
