Hello everyone!
Sorry if this is misplaced, but coming here with hope of some help![]()
I have a laptop that stopped charging, it has been on RMA for that before but close to a year ago. If I fixate the cable in a certain angle and apply pressure to the cable, it charges but its getting harder and harder to get it to charge, so I decided to take it apart and see whats the problem as I assumed that the soldering had let go due to heat..
I was quite surprised as the DC connector was firmly in place, but it seems that the solder(?) have melted and spred out and mixed up with the HDMI connector. Would separating those two connectors fix it?
Attatched a photo, but the camera focused on my fingers..
Any suggestions?

If the problem is in fact with the solder joints outlined here, then this is akin to "chip creep," and the temperatures could have very well been responsible for this (that and the design and solder used).

I understand that the soldering is the problem. But would separating these two(DC/HDMI that has connected after the soldering melted) fix the problem. -

If you have the means and the know how, you can try it. It's difficult to say whether doing so will actually resolve it or not.
ASUS X53sm, not charging.
