I have an ASUS X55A. I flashed the latest BIOS, set the standard version of Windows XP, all the drivers found and installed without problems. But! The brightness does not change. In addition, the device manager is not the usual ACPI-device, so the ACPI-driver nowhere to put it. In any case, i has installed ATK Package, when i change the sound and others are drawn beautiful, everything is changing, but the brightness of the keys, again, is not affected, there is not even an indicator on the screen when you press the corresponding combinations. Please help. In the operating system error log repeats the following error: \ Device \ ACPIEC: onboard equipment is not answered in the allotted timeout. This may indicate a bug in the firmware of the controller, or misbehaving BIOS, which performs non-secure requests to the controller. Controller driver tries to run the query again.

On the Windows 7 back is not possible, because there is a specific software for vehicle diagnostics, works only in XP. Accordingly, it is important to laptop as long as possible live without recharging, for drag for a power cable disastrously uncomfortable, and at maximum brightness the battery will not last long.

I apologize for the errors and mistakes, I'm from Russia and took advantage of Google Translate.

It sounds like the available driver(s) for XP are not fully compatible. Have you considered installing Windows 7 Professional (or higher) and then running Windows XP Mode? Will your software work in a virtual machine?
