How do these two models compare to one another?
The only differences I can discern are the appearance, different GPUs (but still comparable), and the Z71v has the ALS (which seems more like a gimmick than a useful feature).
Other than those features, they seem pretty comparable overall. Am I overlooking something important regarding these models? Also, how does the Z71v's construction compare to the ZV07A's, ie, case material?
Thanks guys!

ALS is actually a feature I wish were on more of the systems because it automatically does what I tell people they 'should' do when the ambient light changes...... even though the Z70va has a better screen, if you level the backlight levels alone, you'd actually appreciate the Z71v screen more because it'll always be at the ideal brightness.
Z70va is carbon fiber and the Z71v is plastic. The only thing the Z71v has over the Z70va would be ALS and price. Other than that the Z70va is ideal and the only notebooks I would put above it would be the W2v/V6va and obviously the W1 if the refreshed model ended up coming to the states (but it didn't). -
when it comes down to it the main difference is the screen on the z70va is much better and the construction is stronger as it has carbon fiber embeded in it. i think the z70va screen is much brighter and better viewing angles and color.
