For what it's worth, I've never heard of them.

Buying abroad you want to stick with more well known places. Not judging the place but it's obviously not a large store.
-
...mmmh,
my main worry with them is the specs they have in stock are not in theory from the UK market...so I am not too sure how he got to that...
having rang ASUS UK they confirm me they do not have the LN out as yet (and for a few months)...
i may have to stick to the aussie one...although basically same specs for 600 extra dollars...

Easier warranty support though, to me that would be worth it and being able to deal locally is a big plus.
The only problem with buying from smaller places abroad is you place your trust in them since you basically have no buyer protection. -
Did your package ship yesterday?
-
Still no supply in germany .the ux32ln hot pushed out again so i Switched to the ux303ln . 4th of sep is the actual date for this at cyberport

If you guys aren't concerned with 8 GB of RAM, the Canadian version is available from NCIX US. The specs state there is 802.11AC and I confirmed it with an Asus rep over the phone. Currently on sale for $175 off. I placed my order last night, so if people are interested in updates, I'll post.
-
Under details, it says it has 12gb ram. However the description ends in -CA so I assume it's an error and they just copy/pasted the info from somewhere else. Let me know what they say, I called them just now and they are closed right now. I'll try again later in the day. I wouldn't mind upgrading the ram afterwards if it's $75 off right now. Thanks!
-
Got Canadian version 3 days ago, upgraded to 12GB of RAM, it comes with a 2.5" SanDisk 256GB SSD, going to change with my 1TB 840 EVO this weekend. Wireless is 802.11AC, no LAN adapter and video adapter in box.

That's strange. I saw it as 8 GB last night. They have a small discussion board on that laptop where a moderator confirmed it was 8 GB.
For me, it was no tax and free shipping, although a shipping insurance of ~$18 was required. Now it's just "shut up and take my money!!!"
BTW, it's actually $175!
Did it at least come with a sleeve? It kinda sucks to not have any accessories if that's the case. I thought the 303 comes with an msata(?). Is this just different for the Canadian version? -
Did it come with the sleeve?
-
The Canadian and US versions are the same model according to the description. No reason they should be different. That said, they have been known to source different model components in the same laptop model. So this might have a caddy with an M.2 drive or might have a 2.5" drive depending on luck.

WARNING : DO NOT BUY FROM CASETEK.
They are a scam site and you will not get your product.
Remember the saying people, if it looks too good to be true... -
Can someone who has the 303LN let me know if it has an HDMI or mini-HDMI port. I can't tell from the pictures and I'm seeing different info on different sites. Thanks.
(I ordered one and want to be ready for when it arrives) -
I don't have one, but looking at this picture below, you can see that the HDMI port is wider than the USB port next to it, and therefore must be full-sized HDMI, as those are about 14 mm wide, while USB is 12 mm, and mini HDMI is 10.42 mm (see Wikipedia).
http://www.ultrabookreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/right.jpg
Hope that's helpful. -
It comes with a HDMI port as Charlie stated.
I've had my UX303LN QHD for a couple of days now and it's really nice - the only major drawback is as we all know the color reproduction of the QHD pannel.
Will send in a complaint to Asus and hopefully more people will do so that they can get around to sort the problem - I kinda forgot how yellow really looks like.
PS Chrome Canary looks beautiful with this high res. -
Thanks!
Good idea to officially lodge a complaint with Asus. Seems like with the Lenovo, they got enough complaints that eventually they issued a BIOS "fix." Some owners seemed satisfied with that, others not so much. At the very least, I'm surprised/disappointed ASUS did not release the UX303LN with some sort of patch like Lenovo's. -
thanks man...however i am referring to Casetac...although you probably meant the same thing?
as i said i emailed and spoke to them twice on the phone...and honestly got no great impression.
I have pre-ordered one here in Oz...should arrive to the shop (in Sydney) on monday (from Melb)...then they ship it to me tuesday (back to Melb)...
the beauty of...stupidity!!!!!
looking forward!

Made an account just to bring this to light. Chatted with ASUS customer service, they refused to acknowledge QHD discolouration was a well known issue. Upon pressing further and directing them here, the response was "any one person could write a forum"..,
-
Just got the UX303LN, spoke with CSR at ASUS and they said that the color distortion might just be my one notebook only. They told me to send it back into the store for a replacement and if the problem persists, I should ship it back to the manufacturer to get it repaired.
-
What color distortion are you talking about, the yellow issue?
-
They told me this too, but judging from this forum and other reviews, it's an issue with every QHD screen that has been released on laptops so far. I lodged a complaint, and it got escalated, so I guess we'll see what happens from here. Will keep you guys updated, and I've also asked ASUS to have a representative come here and answer questions.
-
Fair enough - anyone in a forum can have an opinion. Maybe it's worth pointing ASUS to the Lenovo fix. If Asus is using the same panel described here, than it may have a similar issue. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-W...W-characteristics-and-display-of/ta-p/1294793
-
nope, but I complained and got it upgraded to OneDay shipping as soon as it's available. Did yours ship?
-
No, they estimated mid September.
-
I really wish Asus had solved these screen issues before school started because I was really eager to pull the trigger on one. The choice of getting one shipped internationally to Canada without screen issues was way too cumbersome/expensive. Thus, I ended up with a 13" rMBP because of the battery life and I really like it. I hope that for those of you who do get this UX303LN, you end up with a quality product.
-
Yes, Canadian edition comes with 8G RAM, I upgraded to 12G by myself. It comes with a sleeve. Upgraded 256G Sandisk to 1T 840 EVO with farstone driveclone free edition, working well.
-
If you, or others, have the LN model with color problems, you might want to consider sending Asus your own pictures showing the problem by comparison to colors on other screens. An example was posted earlier here.
Asus Zenbook UX303LN - Sidan 2 - Bärbara datorer: Köpråd - SweClockers.com
Enough people, sending enough original proof of the issue, and they'd have a hard time not concluding what we already know. -
Just had to register to ask lol. Anyone one of ya have battery wear on this device already? I bought my ux303ln on the 18th this month and i alreadyh have 3.6% battery wear? I am gonna do a battery calibration today and see what it ends up on- And yes i also have the yellow colour issue. I have mailed them and asked them about it. But they ignored it because i was asking them about another bug at the same time. There might be a power issue with this device. But I have to see in a few days because i just refreshed w8.1 and it dissapeared. THe problem was that whenever i tried to boot up the zenbook it would just show the asus logo and shut down. Upon booting up the 2nd time it worked fine. That happened even if i put it in hibernation mode or shut it down completely. Anyone else having these problems aswell?
-
We're already at 63 pages but has anyone bought a UX303 with the 1080p screen?
-
Or has anyone bought and received a UX303 of either model? US shipments are delayed. I had ordered one from BHPhotoVideo.. they delayed my order until Mid-Dec. According to their buyer, there was a fire in an ASUS factory that manufactures the laptop. So I ended up canceling and ordering elsewhere, but we'll see what happens.
-
Just buy it from ncix. They have it in stock
-
To bad its the Canadian version, only 8GBs of Ram and only an 802.11N wireless card not AC
-
True but it's on sale for $75 off the US price and has no tax with free shipping. The $75 alone can buy the ram and wifi modules. And let's not forget that 12gb of ram is overkill to over 95% of the users of this laptop. Future proof, perhaps, but you won't need that much for quite some time.
-
I have had my LA since August 7th. I pre-ordered from Amazon on July 26th.
Jim -
The Canadian version was $175 off when I purchased mine from NCIX US last Thursday. More than worth it for just 4 GB less RAM. I've asked an Asus rep that confirmed it was 802.11AC. I believe another user also confirmed that.
-
Bah, I broke down and bought one. Its $75 off retail. I just hope the memory is easy to upgrade I could use 12GBs of memory =/
-
It's easy, just make sure you have a T5 and/or a T6 driver to get the screws off. Also don't forget that there are screws under the rubber feet closest to the hinge. I use a plastic prying tool. Just go slow - someone broke one of theirs.
-
Ohh good, yeah I have a full setup of dis-assembly tools here I was just making sure that it wasn't soldered to the board or something.
Is 12GBs max or could you up it to 16GB? -
According to the reviews I read, 4 GB is soldered to the motherboard, the rest is in a SODDIMM, up to 12 GB total including the soldered RAM. See this review for pictures and more details.
-
May I ask what for you need more than 8 GB ram? I have 16GByte in my gaming desktop but never used even close go 8gb....
-
Because I run VMs for work and the extra memory helps.
-
Max I think. 4gb soldered with 1 module.
Amazon just sent me an email saying my order will be delivered on Thursday. Not sure if they have any more in stock. -
Both the LN and LA? Congrats! Do let us known how the screen swap works out (how-to video?). I assume you will just swap the lids, but if you're feeling adventurous, it'd be nice to know what components are the same/different within the lids of the two models, like the inverter board and wire harness. It would be great to know if we can just buy a 1080p LA panel (if they ever become available) and pop it in, or if we'd need extra parts. Thanks, and good luck.
-
I'll be swapping lids. I've never been able to successfully take apart a touchscreen on a laptop before. I think they glue or tape the glass on - either way, I fear breaking the pane.
The LN comes in on Thursday. I'll order the LA once I get shipping confirmation. -
So has anyone been successful in finding an international 1080p version?
-
Ok I See then it indeed makes sense but in "One" machine i dont See any use of above 8 gb
-
Video editing perhaps? Graphical & Digital work? There are a several uses for more than 8GB, but if all you do is word and games then no.
-
WORD lol. Well also Do some video editing . But never used more than 7 gb of my 16gb . Just my observation. And wouldnt be these ultrabooks ...well suboptimal for videoediting.. or graphic design. Dont get me wrong here i was curious why some are always looking for so much RAM...
