Ok I figured my problem. But I don't know the solution.

Booted I to the BIOS but it's not detecting the hard drive.

I enabled Launch CSM and still have no option to add boot device? It's got no boot priorities and nothing to delete either.

    Help!

    Model is UX303LN

No drive showing up usually means a bad drive. Does it show up if you disable UEFI/enable Legacy BIOS?

So quick update. I send it to Asus support and they quoted me $440 to replace the screen. I decided that is almost what I paid for it so I declined. I have the UX303LN laptop back and the plastic molding is completely broken off.

So I can either buy a whole new screen with LCD cover on Amazon,

or I can just buy the LCD cover and keep my current screen. So I'll be looking for the LCD cover that has the plastic molding that connects to the hinge? LCD Bezel

You should be looking for the back panel cover assembly with ferrules: http://www.asusparts.eu/en/Asus-90NB04R2-R7A010

If you manage to successfully disassemble the glass and front assembly, I suggest finding a way to reinforce or increase the life of the replacement cover. Otherwise, you're looking at another broken hinge within a few months. You can loosen up the hinge nuts and epoxy the plastic molding around the LCD cover ferrules. However, I have no idea how well these methods work.

The only hinge fix I found with actual long-term success was the bolt-through method, which I'll be doing to my laptop once its ferrules start breaking off.

Thanks for your reply. Its hard to find information related to disassemble or repair tutorials for this notebook.

I can't find tutorials for the UX303LN but I found other Zenbooks tutorials. I would expect there sort of similar ? Like this guide

I dropped the notebook on the floor other day and the black wires/cables that run along the bottom of the lid cover broke off. Now my wifi signal is spotty with weak signal or it just drops.

The wifi card's antenna runs along the hinge cover. You can buy a replacement wifi antenna over at asusparts.eu

Here are a few, but they aren't quite detailed:

    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Asus_Zenbook_UX303L
    http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/asus-ux303ln-disassembly/

When opening the bottom panel make sure to remove the top two rubber feet beside the vents to reveal the extra two screws. I have no experience opening up laptop screens, so I suggest taking a look at glass panel replacement videos. The UX303LN's glass panel is different from previous UX models with define plastic bezels and matte screens.

Last year I had been upgraded my UX303LN to Windows 10. I have one little problem with W10. Sometimes, once per two month my notebook crashes with BSOD. After such crash it permanently crashes on going to sleep. So, after BSOD every lid close goes to crash. Currently I found that BIOS reflashing helps me to avoid those crashes. Nothing else, just BIOS reflashing.
Does anyone else meet such behavior? How do you this, what kind of notebook corrupts on BSOD? I feel that such behavior is related to UEFI NVRAM, but I can't prove it. Please help.

    Hey guys!
I got one of these (UX303UB, with the 940M) and I was wondering why can't I install newer nvidia drivers or geforce experience. The driver can't find compatible hardware.
Also which would be the best drivers? I was going for 362.

You're sure you're going for the correct driver (64 bit, I'm guessing, and your version of Windows)? Are you able to install the stock/factory driver?

The best driver is whichever the latest version is that doesn't give you any grief. :vbwink: (362 has been stable.)

Yeah I was trying with the right driver. I'm on Windows 10 64 bit.
I ended up installing Geforce Experience and updating from there. I'm now stable and with the expected performance with the 364.72.

However I'm still having two issues with the notebook. The first is that it doesn't like waking up from sleep. Everytime I open the lid it just hangs with a black screen and power LED on. Only by reseting can I get it working again.
The second one is heavy and annoying static electricity. The whole chassis becomes electric when I plug it in various outlets. Even grounded ones.
It's very picky and I have issues with almost every outlet

It sounded, potentially, like a firmware issue. Thanks for following up on that.

What surface(s) are you placing the laptop on? It sounds like some electricity is being dissipated to the chassis; not exactly floored by that, given the material, but it shouldn't be.

Hey! My zenbook ux303ln is currently breaking at the hinge and I'm out of warranty. From what I've read a fix by asus is only temporary and over $400 so the permanent solution you posted is looking pretty good . Where did you get it/ are there instructions?

Pretty much on any surface. Cloth, wood table, couch, metal cooling base, etc.
I also noticed I have some white blotches on the middle of the screen which are pretty noticeable when turning on or whenever there's a black screen

After upgrade to win 10 I have the same problem until my laptop wont boot from any external usb. I call asus Romania and they send me to service. After one day they told me that is an incompatibility between chipset and the drivers of win 10 that cause to corupt my bios and they replace my motherboard (after 10 days). They advice me to use win 8.1. It seems that exist a problem between chipset and win 10 despite what ASUS shows on they site.

    hi,

I got the same hinge problem on ux303ln (gt-840m). Some broken black pieces fell from the hinge and I can't close the lead.
How complicate is to fix it by myself?
    What parts should I buy?

    Thanks

Hey Guys, I'd like to ask for your help as I was unable to find a solution myself on the internet.
I'm definitely not an IT guy, but usually I can find the answers on forums at least, but I still hope it's an easy one to fix somehow.
So I have my zenbook only for a month now, and I love it. I use it usually with a monitor as extended display, occasionally using it without the monitor of course. For about a week now, when I use it without the monitor, when the laptop goes to sleep and I want to use it again, the built is display doesn't show anything. It seems as the computer displays everything on the Monitor which is not attached:O If I plug in the monitor, there is the login screen, I can modify the display settings, and it works fine again. I though I messed up somehow manually with fn+F8, but no..and it happens now every time, and I don't know how to fix it, I can't bring the monitor everywhere :)

    Thanks for helping

No need to update bios or chipset drivers
    Update Intel Management Engine

You can use the one from the intel website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...d-on-3rd-Generation-Intel-Processors-or-Above

Or use the one provided by ASUS (link found through ivanrf.com but legit as I am using this one):

    Guys,

The left hinge of my asus UX303LN fell to bits the other day after a year and a eight months of use. Same issue that everyone has posted here. I had to kept the screen in position with a book, and the lid became misaligned when closed.

I bought the laptop in Bangok, where I assume Asus is big. I took it to one of their service centers and they took it under warranty without question, they mentioned they know about this issue. No purchase documents asked for, nothing.

So there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Hey guys, how do you guys make the touchpad faster and more responsive? I feel that even at max settings, the touchpad still feels very slow. And the precision (even with enhance pointer precision setting turned on) is still not good enough.

    Hi everyone,
I have the Asus UX303LN (it actually says UX303L on the bottom) with the Quad-HD glossy panel.
Unfortunately, I now have the broken hinge issue as seen in these pictures from another user: http://imgur.com/a/E99BQ

I opened it and managed to temporarily "fix" it but it broke for good after a while.

Do I really only need the back cover? http://www.asusparts.eu/en/Asus-90NB04R2-R7A010
I would also like to replace the crappy glossy panel with the matte Full-HD panel.
Is it the same back cover?

What would be the easiest thing to do in my case?

    thanks :)

So the hinges on my UX303 broke, surprisingly, and the connection between the screen and computer was cut off aswell. Anyone know a way to fix this or get it fixed without replacing the whole screen (it's a touchscreen)? thanks

You will need to replace the hinge (since it's probably split), then you can find the part number on these parts on ebay to find replacement.

I know this is a really old thread but reading about the hinge issues has got me terrified. I bought an ASUS UX303UB about 10 months ago and it has been a really powerful and reliable laptop. I have been gentle with the hinge even before knowing about issues with past 303s. As far as I can see....has anyone had hinge problems with the UB? Everyone says "it should be updated" but I don't see anyone who's written a review saying their 303UB broke.

I'm trying to decide whether to get rid of this thing asap (despite how much I love it) to save myself trouble down the road, or stick with it if it's really fixed. Anyone have any input on their experience (past one year) with the UX303UB? I would be so appreciative.

As long as you can open the lid from the middle then you won't over-stress one hinge over the other.

My UX303UB is 18 days out of warranty and the hinge blew. I was quoted by ASUS $690 and over two weeks time for the fix. I've tried multiple local shops and of the best of them, they don't want to touch it as any repair may kill the touch screen. That is my experience and like you... I was in love.
The love is faded and I wish I had a pre-nup.
Shopping for a new love now... maybe the Samsung Noteook 9 Pro.... Sure, it won't have the hard drive capacity or the sexy smoky brown, come-hither look. But it also doesn't have the reputation of leaving me in pieces either.
My advice? Break up with it first. You'll feel better about it.

Hey guys, it's been a few years since I was here. I haven't had a new laptop since my Clevo in 2011. I just found a UX303LN refurbished in my local computer shop for ~$640. I can't find anything comparable with a 3200x1800 touchscreen and dedicated graphics in that price range and I'm debating keeping it or not.

This hinge issue is bothering me and I have until tomorrow to return it if I don't like it since it's a refurb/open box/clearance item. The problem is I can't find anything comparable in the price range.

I've read all about the hinge issues and I suspect that might have been what happened to this particular laptop in the first place as initially, I couldn't get a wifi signal at all. I opened her up and noticed that whomever did the shoddy repair had reversed the antenna connections by mistake. That's my main clue that somebody unhooked the display at some point.

However, there's no signs of stress on the hinges so they must have replaced them but I thought that in order to do that, the entire lid needed to be swapped? It looks like it has the original 2 year old lid full of scratches and a dent.

Anyway, since it looks like the hinges are still in good shape, I had the idea of reducing the torsional stress that keeps breaking the plastic by loosening the nuts on the hinges until it was just strong enough to stand up to casual touchscreen use but super loose when opening and closing. It seems that overcoming the seizing of the hinge when opening the laptop is what causes the most stress.

I disconnected the display and used a pair of pliers to slowly loosen the nuts just slightly and move the hinges by hand until I felt like there was enough relief against levering on the plastic parts of the display.

Now, I no-longer feel any resistance or any weird creaks or pops when opening the lid as I did before and the screen still stands up at any angle and works fine with a lighter finger touch. It also makes the unit easier to open.

I would recommend this "fix" to anybody who has this laptop whether in original condition or a warranty or self repair. I'm still undecided on keeping this refurb as the case was super scratched up already and there was evidence of shoddy worksmanship on the inside but I can't say no to the price (unless anybody can recommend another laptop).
