XoticPC has taken down their page for the 303LB, there isn't even an ETA. Any idea if this laptop is even coming to the US?

Anyone know if it's discontinued because Asus isn't making Zenbooks with DGPUs anymore or just because it's going to be updated with a new model?
-
I think we might be seeing a Skylake model in the fall.
-
I asked asus Germany about a new model being in the pipeline. Waiting for an answer now.
-
Only answer i got: the ux303lb model will be available again later this month

The 940M will be warmer than the 840m and broadwell will be similar in heat but will be more power efficient.
-
Those of you who have bought the laptop, how are the hinges doing?
-
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Do try and use both hands to open it if you can. It will extend the life of the hinges.
-
Or at least open from center to distribute the load between both and not put a torsional load on it.
-
Im guessing the LA, LN, and the LB hinges are the same right?

Yes the chassis is the same so the panels etc are very similar.

Just a quick update for those considering the UX303LB as a light gaming machine.
It continues to surprise me how versatile this laptop is. Great for transporting between home and work, and perfect for getting some gaming in at home. I've just finished a full play through of Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine single player, and have been getting a fair bit of Heroes of the Storm in. Honestly, if you do any gaming at all, the 940m truly is nothing to sneeze at. And it's incredibly refreshing to play these types of games on a machine so quiet.
I will note one thing. I was having a lot of issues at first. Upon opening some games, they would crash straight back to desktop. I ended up figuring out that it was Conexant Smart Audio that was causing all of my problems. After uninstalling that, everything's been fine.
So yeah, if you're choosing between this and a Macbook or Dell XPS, and some gaming is on the agenda, keep in mind that the Asus is going to blow them out of the water. I don't miss my GSI GT72 Dominator Pro one bit. -
I ended up buying this laptop for that exact reason, most of the 13"ers come with integrated intel GPUs, while I don't plan on gaming on it very much I wanted to have the versatility it offers, plus I found an i5 one for 800 EUR/ 870 USD, which was a good 200-300 EUR cheaper than the alternatives.
I just hope the hinge doesn't die on me but for every hinge that's been reported to break, there must are others that didn't. -
Has anyone heard it's discontinued from anyone other than xoticpc? I'm really looking forward to getting it. I hope Amazon stocks it soon...
-
You can still get the UX303LN which is basically the same laptop, just one gen older, but performance is probably within 5% of the LB.
-
The UX303LN is still kind of available. Most places are running out of stock. Amazon is out of stock and 3rd party sellers on there are selling it for $1800. Out of stock on ASUS's store and Rakuten, and XoticPC, and it's overpriced on a few other places, or the sites aren't reputable enough that I would use them.
They stopped making the old version and didn't yet put out the new, kind of lousy state right now. -
I was recently looking around and some places still show as coming soon. I've contacted B&H, they said they would put up a release date later this week. IF it does come out, I probably will purchase this than the UX303LA or the LN.

Does anyone know why the UX303LB was delayed a month for release? (according to XoticPC, was suppose to come out late June but it suppose to come out late July.)Last edited: Jul 22, 2015 -
Office Depot says it's "In Stock" but then says "20-30 days for delivery" lol. Maybe it's special order.

So does any UX303LB owners have that mustardy yellow color still and if so, is it really noticeable?

Asus store has UX303LB with 12gb 512gb SSD and 940M for 1299

Anyone know if it will run Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition at 1600x900?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
About 20-25fps at that resolution.
-
Just going back to that hinge (last time, hopefully), that issue is only on the UX303 right? This problem doesn't happen on the other UX models like UX501, UX305, and UX301 right?

Yes you would want to drop it down a bit really to get a smoother experience.
-
Hi can you please let me know where did you buy it from? -
You can buy it from bhphotovideo.com or amazon.com for $1299US
-
Hi
Can someone confirm me how is the screen of the touch version?
Is it all glass or have the plastic around it?
I am trying to find a picture of it without any success... Thanks in advance.Last edited: Aug 7, 2015 -
Hello there! I'm looking for an ultrabook and I stopped on this one. FHD+940M+i5-5200U or i7-5500U. The thing is though, that the model which comes with FHD, 940M and i7 is available only with a 256Gb SSD (all the same + i5 model comes with a regular HDD). I already have SSD (Crucial M550 256Gb), so I was planning on replacing the HDD anyway. So, the model with i7 is $250 more expensive than the i5 one. According to the Intel site, both of these processors are the same dual-core - quad-thread with i7 having slightly higher frequencies and 1 additional Mb of cache. My question is: is it worth it? I could, of course, sell out my current SSD and get the i7 version, but if I don't see any real-life difference, I'll just go with the i5 one. I mean, 940M shouldn't be bottlenecked by an i5, in my opinion, 'cause it's not so powerful. Also, i5 will be just a bit cooler, due to the lower frequencies. What do you, guys, think?
UPD: The one with an i5 has 840M actually, my bad. Now the i7 one seems like the one to go with.Last edited: Aug 7, 2015 -
Hey guys I just recently bought the UX303Lb, I was just wondering are any of you guys experiencing problems with the left two usb slots? For example, plugging in a mouse or a external hard drive. I need to put some force in plugging in the usb into those slots. i'm just worried i'm gonna damage it. Is anyone else experiencing this?

USB ports tend to start of stiff and loosen over time to make sure they are not manufactured loose and reduce their life span.
-
What are your usual temperatures of CPU and GPU under the heavy load (games in particular) after 20-30 minutes?

I'm currently having difficulty resolving a issue with the ASUS ux303lb. When i turn on the computer there are straight multicoloured lines that come up with the lock screen wallpaper for a second and disappears. However, I don't know how to get rid of this problem. Could you guys please help me with this problem.

Hi,
I recently bought UX303LB and I'm having some issues with it. I upgraded to Windows 10 right away so I can't really say if this issue was present on Windows 8.1. Webcam is not recognized at all, like it doesn't exist - there are no unknown devices in the device manager but for example Skype says there is no camera found. Also, a bigger problem, fan is running very loud every time I turn on the laptop. Even without any apps running. Anybody else experiencing these problems? -
For the camera, there is no "imaging devices" or anything in the device manager? It may be a loose cable. In any case if the fans keep running and you can't get your camera working I would exchange it. -
There is no imaging device or anything else unknown in the device manager. As for the temperature, I did measure it, it was around 40 Celsius, nothing special right? And the laptop has been running for 2 days and the fan is constantly at high speed. I guess I'll just have to take it back...
-
Definitely if you're in the return/exchange period I would. I love this laptop, but wouldn't put up with issues like that. Hopefully your replacement will be better.

Certainly talk to your reseller about any issues so early, they will know the most common issues with the machine most likely.
