    Does somebody have it home?
We have them in our country in eshops, but every eshop says, that it has 23Wh battery, which is too low. On asus webpage is 50Wh, which is optimal.
I would like to know real battery capacity...

    Thank you,
it's weird but battery life on WiFi was just something over 4 hours and playing movies was over six hours...

Okay, I have got this notebook finally.
Wanted i7 version, but it still isnt in stock, so I bought i5 version only.
It has decent battery life. I can get over six hours on linux while browsing the web.
But my battery has since first launch has 5,1% wear level.
Another flaw is strong screen bleeding.
One key is falling out of keyboard.
The SSHD drive is really fast.
Screen isnt calibrated, because the screen should be very good and I dont see any difference with my old TN notebook.
It has really good screen backlight.

How about its thickness? Does it have exactly the same model as UX32VD?

I refered to some German sites and they all show 128G/256G SSD but not HDD option. I actually want a thinner one as UX32A

Its pretty thick - 18mmm, so I assume its the same as UX32VD. In our country we have UX32LN with SSHD and UX32LA with SSD. I think thinner laptops with these GPUs are impossible.
I will tell, what is playable, but I have got some issues (formatted ESP partition :D ) and I have to solve this first. Btw I will use RMA for it, because it has too many flaws.

Well, 18mm is kind of acceptable for me, but too many flaws...

I'll wait for its debut after April 10 in EU to make sure if there is thinner model as advertisement shows.

And, could you please tell about those flaws? I don't have chance to experience it in store since it will not be available in my country

that sounds really bad. Can you find out what panel type/name/manufacturer was built in your unit? In the review i posted above they seemed to be very pleased with the screen:

Very high brightness and contrast can comfortably operate outdoors, viewing angles are very high, and the color rendition is close to perfect - it's one of the best displays of modern compact Ultrabooks.

are you going to take your chance with another unit or you're giving up on this model?

What about the body? can you tell if it's plastic coated with some sort of metal or is it really " carved from a single block of aluminum" as Asus states on their webpage?

    thanks :)

    I already mentioned it,but:
    1) Screen bleeding
    2) Keys falling out of the keyboard
    3) Battery wear level (5,1% for me)
Maybe I am just not lucky and got very bad unit.
Sorry, I can't find, who build this panel type now, but let you know when I will be able to find it and yea it's very good outdoors.
I will give this model another try, because the body is fantastic. I think it's unibody, but I am not sure. It has really good duratibility. I accidentally dropped this notebook from about one meter and there is no sign of the drop.
Btw if u can get unit with SSHD instead of HDD, buy it, because it's really fast.

I finally got new unit. Monitor is CMN1343 - the same as UX32VD has.
Its profile is the thicker version.
It seems, that this notebook is same as UX32VD, but got newest hardware.
BTW battery life is excelent! I was surfing with WiFi and ambient light sensor for one hour and ten minutes and after that time I had 87% battery life. Its able to push 8 hours on WiFi. Btw on archlinux I was only able to push 6 hours on WiFi.

As for the keyboard, I just watched a video

Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD Ultrabook Review - YouTube

it seems for UX32VD, the keyboard would be significantly bent if you press hard on the middle of keyboad

Since UX32LN has exactly the same chasis as UX32VD, I wonder if this problem remains unfixed at your unit

I am looking forward for i7 version.. Currently I have UX302LG in third reclamation and I am considering to swap it for UX32LN-R4048H.

Can anybody say if version with 500+8GB has 8GB dedicated in mSata mini port (like UX302LG has 16GB cache) or this 8GB cache is part of 500GB hard drive and mSata mini is free in UX32LN?

Unfortunatelly there is no mSata slot and disk is SSHD.
But this SSHD is pretty fast.
Go through some reviews and dont judge it just because it isnt pure SSD.

Are you sure there is no mSata slot? See the picture from some review ( Ferra.ru - ASUS Zenbook UX32LN) below.
What is the slot on the left side in the middle than? It looks like mSata mini, but I am not sure.

Btw I believe that the SSHD is pretty fast, but I bought 128GB mSata mini SSD from MyDigital (originaly for my UX302LG) and I would like to use it.

I have to apologize for my dumb question. All the time I thought that this slot is empty, because I presumed that the slot is connectable from bottom. Until now I've noticed that the WiFi is connected from the top to this slot. All the time I saw just small image and I didn't notice that. I am sorry one more time.

    Hi there,

I am very interested in this laptop because there aren´t many of this kind on the market nowadays. Actually I´m looking for something very similar to Macbook Air 13 but in terms of reliability and overall quality and mobility as well. Simply I want for my $1200 laptop that will withstand everyday use without need for repair every two months.

    1) so my first question is, do you guys think that Asus in general is the best option among other laptop brands (except Apple of course..)? Or you think it´s all about lucky hit whichever laptop/brand I choose? And yes, I am familiar with the Square Trade analysis from 2009 where Asus became a winner as the most reliable laptop brand. But on the other hand, I read about so many issues with Asus laptops that I somehow can´t believe...

    2) Does anybody run a battery-life test? 87% of battery after one hour of wifi usage sounds quit good. I would expect at least 8 hours on wifi, it would be nice.

    3) Did I get it right that it is possible to switch the SSHD for the SSD in the future without voiding the warranty?

    4) Is it so that the RAM is not upgradable in any way in the future? 6GB is enough for me now but after two/three years it could be insufficient...

    5) How is the touchpad/keyboard performance from your point of view? And is the Enter key small or big one? Because the photos from ferra.ru show the big one, but all other eshops are showing small one version?! I would prefer the big one of course..

    6) And last one.. Is it possible to completely disable the dedicated graphic card in case you are running on battery and don´t want to switch it on even during some higher load? I think that i5 has enough performance for normal usage but takes far less energy... I´d like to use the Nvidia graphic just for causal light gaming or 3D rendering etc.

I apologize for so many questions but there aren´t many reviews so far so this is the only way I can get the answers :)
Thank you very much in advance!

    Andrew

    1) It doesnt depend on brand. It depends only on your luck.
    2) Yea, its about 8 hours on WiFi and 10 without WiFi.
    3) Yea, you can switch disks and RAM without voiding warranty.
    5) Enter is big and keyboard with touchpad are fine.
    6) You can use only integrated by setting it in nVidia drivers.

Could someone give additional details on the display? For example: contrast, brightness, black? I would like to know if someone have the chance compare it with, say, the display of the samsung np900x3g.

Here's the only retailer I've managed to see a few different models on Google:
    Search Results "UX32LN" - computeruniverse
There is no physical Ethernet LAN slot on this model -- it's too thin for that.

Is this model supposed to be sold in the US? I can't find any details on this model anywhere...

Hi, I was thinking that probably there is no LAN on laptop itself, but maybe you get adapter with Ethernet plug on the cable which you can connect on a smaller plug on the side?

I saw one model today with i5, 8gb, 1Tb hdd, but no ac wlan, just a,b,g,n. In the shop they even didnt know about ac that it is available on ux32ln, I had to show them on asus webpage.

I´m currently in Hong Kong, and they only have this model in shops around here, no i7 available....

There is also submodels in sweden

Specs för Asus Zenbook UX32LN-R4058H - Egenskaper & Information

i5, 6Gb, SSD and ac wlan

Specs för Asus Zenbook UX32LN-R4029H - Egenskaper & Information

i7, 8Gb, ssd and NO! ac wlan

I dont get it, better wlan is not always following better processor.

How they decide this submodels, or maybe people who making this webpages simply makes mistakes about wlan, nobody cares so much maybe....but for me is quite important for the future, I think it is at least...or what you think?

This seems like a very interesting laptop.

Have you tested the read / write of the SSHD by chance?

Does anyone have the pure SSD model and could provide a benchmark of this?

I'm trying to figure out whether to order an SSD model or wait for a cheaper SSHD.

EDIT: Does this laptop have a TPM?

I can confirm that there's ac wlan on the ux32ln variant in Taiwan(though we don't have full-hd panel), should be the same in Hong Kong .
The second picture shows the accessories that came with the laptop(with adaptors for both Ethernet and VGA)
The third picture is crystaldiskinfo's benchmark on the Seagate SSHD that came with the laptop( I have since switched to a crucial M500 480gb SSD)

A quick note on SSD and RAM upgrade, the Taiwanese variant comes with 4gb soldered and an empty slot so it is a matter of plugging it in(please refer to ux32vd upgrade vids) though unlike those vids, I don't have to partially remove the battery to upgrade SSD, which made it extremely easy.

I couldnt find this SSHD version here in Hong Kong, all of them are with 1TB.

So I was thinking to buy HDD version and just upgrade with SSD, now when you say its easy Im even more sure I will do that.

    Is it 7mm SSD?

Screen seems to be always HD here, but wlan is only a,b,g,n

I dont like so much soldered ram, dont know what happens if that ram fails.

But, maybe its less possibility for that to happen than conventional ram module.

Yes, it uses 7mm SSD, I actually have more trouble with RAM adding than changing the hard drive. Here is the thing, if you are gonna change it to ssd, whether it's hdd or sshd won't matter as you would be pulling it out and placing it in a 2.5 inch hdd box. U should definitely check out crucial M500, it's dirt cheap now that m550 is out
