Does anyone know if ASUS is taking part in the Windows Vista: Express Upgrade program? Essentially, it allows all users who purchase a new computer/notebook with a "Vista Compatible" sticker to receive a FREE upgrade to Windows Vista when it becomes available. Most major PC manufacturers are taking part in this.

Asus hasn't said anything about it and as of just a couple of weeks ago, they all seemed pretty naive about the entire subject (which is why I have a thread about it).

Microsoft has made rather clear though that they're footing the billing (at least most of it), and they'll give it to anyone with a "vista compatible" sticker on their system bought on or after Thursday. Now, all of Asus' systems have come with the sticker since late July with the W7j - and to get that sticker it has to actually qualify.... This isn't an issue with Asus not having connections with Microsoft, because they're probably tighter than almost anyone..... Qualification for this program seems to sit squarely on Asus being a legitmate Microsoft partner (which they of course are).... Since there's not much coming out of Asus' pocket - and obviously since the Q4 sales of their systems depend on it... I'm sure we'll see some action - it just may not be till tomorrow night at the earliest.

Oh, they'll be strict....... this is Microsoft we're talking about - not Asus...... you'll need to show proof - which means an invoice dated 10/26 or later.
