Sony manufacters about 90% of Asus batteries since they are supposed to be the best. For more info, read Proportables thread just made about the battery recall possiblility.

i don't think they are considered the best anymore especially since they've been blowing up in all sorts of laptops. toshiba, apple, hp, dell.. have already done recalls (you guys can add to the list). i wonder when we will start seeing asus recalls.

Since only 1 in like a million will catch fire, they may just deal with a single lawsuit than recall them all, which would cost more. Check our the recall thread for more info. And yea, guess Sony just sux now huh?

no, but it's omre of asus' or any other laptop manufacturers' responsibility to recall the batteries, not sony's. as we can see now with several major players. just wondering, specualting, if asus will recall ours.

edit: oh i didnt see justins thread. here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=78620

OK, no need for a seperate thread.......

Sony does make the best li-ion cells on the planet..... their cell phones and cameras are deffinately prize winners there..... but in terms of battery life per cell, and overall life - Sony simply makes the best. Now, they've copped up to a physical manufacturing defect, which although it's causing a huge stir - as it should - it doesn't mean I'd want another battery in my system..... I would just want them to correct the problems in any cells that were effected and therefore future batteries will just be that much better. But, really I started a thread specifically about our batteries and this thread really should be combined with that one for the sake of keeping all of the information in one place.
