Ok so I have the ASUS F8VA-B1 and when the laptop is running on batteries, at about 70% of the battery remaining, the laptop shuts-down...and when I boot it back up, it said "the battery have reached its critical levels so the OS shutted down" or something like that...

how can I solve this problem????

RMA and replace the battery... seems like you have a faulty one.

It may well be a defective battery in need of replacing, but there a few other things you can check first, if you'd like. For one thing, go to Power Management options in Control Panel and check the Alarms section. Make sure your laptop doesn't have the critical battery alarm set at 70% with the Action being to shutdown.

Something else you can look at is your battery wear. If you're running XP, for example, you can run the free utility MobileMeter and use it to check how much your battery has worn out compared to its original manufactured specifications.

You might also want to try removing and reseating the battery. Occasionally this can resolve contact problems that cause the battery not to charge or to misrepresent its charge level to the OS. Just unplug the AC, pull the battery for a couple of minutes, then put it back in.

Try recalibrating the battery first. If you still experience the same problem or notice a significant drop in battery life, you can ask Asus to replace the battery.

Also a good idea. I don't know off hand if the F8VA has a calibration option or not. If it does, it should be accessible from your BIOS when you first turn on the laptop.

Alarm, battery wear, and calibration are all good suggestions. :) Try those before giving up on the battery.
