Does anyone have any references to support the often heard statement that ASUS builds Sony and Apple notebooks?

I think even it's ture, it still doesn't mean much

we all know that intel's CPU like T7300 T7500 T7700 are made in the same assemble line, and the price varies

each brand have their own quality control

    and it's different

    just my opinion tho

    coriolis, thanks!

The ASUS/Sony production was reduced to one model in 2005.... and there's no recent news about ASUS building current VAIOs, so I surmise that ASUS no longer builds for Sony. I think we know why.... at least I do, since I bought a G1S instead of another VAIO.

While chasing links, I found this.... ASUS is Taiwan's biggest global brand.

Yea, pretty much not alot of brands have been giving ASUS contracts cause they see them as a threat, therefore they don't give them a contract.

Quanta makes majority of the MacBooks now, ASUS still makes them, but in a much smaller batches.

That makes sense, considering Asus branded notebooks are becoming more popular and more competitive with the bigger brands.

According to the sales figures here, Asus is the 9th largest notebook seller worldwide, and they have the second highest year-to-year percentage change.
