I'm just trying to get caught up somewhat with all the posts in this forum. This place sure is alive these days... Good to see!

PROPortable, somewhere back there you talked about an in-car setup in your S4. Would you mind showing us some pics of that?

I'm currently using an older M2 in my E-class, but am looking for a smaller system besides an easier setup than what I have now. Inspiration is always good, and with you being a specialized ASUS dealer and all I suspect you may have a nice little setup there... [ :D]

    Thanks!

mb, -- no the name makes sense.

I could probably get some pics of things we've done in the past... but the S4 doesn't even come till the 25th.. and then we still need to fabricate the mechanism the way we designed it...... I hope to have something ready to install within the next month.

The M2 is a great system and would work well inside a car.... especailly if you're not trying to hide it..... I'm trying to hide everything and right now I'm in a rut because the new model year that we ordered, has some new cooler in the glove box and it shrunk down a bit... so I'm not sure what notebook we're going to fit in there any more....... and we may have to come up with a new idea.

For external use.. within the car... I LOVE Jotto Desk's systems...... they have a non drill kit which works great and is perfect for an M2 sized system. Thats an option.. looks semi like a cop car.. but it could look pretty neat.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Yeah, I'm thinking I might design something that comes up from under the front seat........ I'm not too keen on that idea yet as I don't know what the clearances are and I'd hate for someone to come in the car and change the seat around and crush my notebook.

We did a nice install of one of our slate tablets into a buddy's X5.... when not in use it swung into the glove box..... I didn't get to take shots of it, but the guy's dealership had photographed for some magazine (not just for our tablet) ... but it was the only "M" X5 in all of north america and it was pretty tricked out... but the tablet helped and the interior and the tablet were painted in the blue color of the outside..... I don't think I ever got a copy, but I'll see if I can round one up.

My suggestion for the jotto desk..... the whole kit is nice, but the table that comes with it for the notebook to sit on could be redone... Looks good with an M6 or a W1 on it... but looks huge with a white S5 or something small on it......

    Thanks,
    Justin

    PROPortable,

Wow, the mounts from Jotto Desk look neat! I have something a little similar now, only less flexible. But it was a little project I did myself. [ :D] It works though. I will try one of Jotto's solutions. FYI, the model 425-5212 will fit my car and probably the S4 too, if you go for an external model.

On a little longer term I would like to go for a solution that hides in the glove box. I need a smaller system than the M2 for that though.

When you have the time I would still like to see some of the stuff you have done previously. Have you done anything that goes in the glove box already?

    Thanks!

That sounds like a nice setup in the X5. I was thinking of a sliding tray type of thing that came out of the glove box. Maybe something that rotated towards the driver. To get the system a little closer to you.

But again, not for the good ol' M2. [ :D] I will go for a Jotto Desk solution for now as it is easy to remove when you don't need it. Still want to do the 12" sliding solution eventually though.

Right.... go with what you're got and for the first time.... a jotto desk that you can put into another car at some point is the best choice for doing this easy and secure if you haven't had experience with this stuff yet.

I'll post pictures when I get my setup done, for sure.

    Thanks,
    Justin
