I have the ASUS A53E notebook and I really like it. However, the spacebar has to be hit just right or it doesn't work; might be the way I type but doesn't register for me half the time. I'd like to replace it with a standard keyboard like the one on my wife's ASUS K50IJ. I'm having trouble finding what model would be compatible with it though. Anyone information would be appreciated; this spacebar issue is driving me crazy. Laptop is great apart from that.
Thanks

From what I can tell, the keyboard can only be replaced by an identical model. Reason is usually due to connect type and size of the keyboard.

Well, There was a post where a k53ta user keyboard get replaced from standard to chiclet during RMA. I guess hunt down the service manual for the your model and see if their are any compatible model.
And that ASUS has the most weired naming system, you may also try k53e. (google image show they look similar )
Also just try ebay and see what pops up. -
I have a K53SD, and have the same problem (even after RMA, got a whole new laptop because touchpad stopped working) but the first one also had the same problem, it's really really annoying, I've ordered a backlit keyboard from Ebay (originally not meant for this laptop), so I'll be modding it a bit and hope that keyboard doesn't have this problem
Asus uses a standard size for a lot of laptops (at least chiclet), you can look on Ebay for the k50IJ one, or k60, I'm pretty sure it'll fit (borrow your wife's one and switch them to be sure -

The keyboard from the N53 or B53 might work, but check the keyboard size in mm and the connector pins and length of the cable.
ASUS chiclet keyboard not good for me
