Hello everyone! Hoping to be writing in the right section :) I wanted to ask your help with an eeePC I've got recently.
    It's a 1001PXD (Atom N455).
The problem is that the laptop won't boot, when I press the power button the only things I get are two lights (the button itself and a power indicator), nothing else happens: black screen, no vga output, no hdd noise.
Two other things happen: battery charges correctly (and its light comes up) and the fan starts spinning when everything starts getting hot.

I think the BIOS might be corrupted and I've tried various recovery procedures, but nothing happens. Also clr_cmos doesn't do anything, nor trying to unplug bios battery. Ram is ok.

What could it be? Should I just give up and throw the whole thing away?

Just a quick update. I've transplanted a new and functional bios chip from another motherboard... and it still doesn't work.
So now I know that the old bios wasn't corrupted, but I really don't know what to do next.

Fan still works, battery is ok, usb are functional.

It sounds like the system is getting power and even POSTing, just not outputting a video signal. If that's the case, it's the display adapter at fault.
