I've seen some coverage of this beatiful machine but no system specs or release date, anyone have some info? Also any idea what it is going to cost? Haven't seen any pics of the yellow edition either-just the black one.

The first model and only model to be released in the next 3 months is the model based on the V6 series........ specs are going to be similiar to the V6j, but configuration will most likely be higher end - faster cpu, more ram, faster/larger hard drives....

... the Lambo line will be known as the "VX" series...... Cost is going to be between an arm and a leg... ETA I believe isn't set, but I'd say about two months.

That is a nice looking machine though probably too rich for my blood.

It's going to be a lot like just getting a maxed out system - which is expensive --- doing it to an ensemble, which is more... and having the special pricing of anything that's limited in nature.........

.... I think these will probably be the ultimate in terms of high-end ... not just from asus, but anyone.

Do you think it will break the 3grand mark?

Depends on the configuration, but if you price it out now....... a V6va that is maxed out w/ say a 2.26ghz cpu / 2gb of DDR2 533 / 120gb/5400rpm HDD --- is going to go for about $2,800.00......... If you figure on a 100gb/7200rpm - that would push that to at least $2,900.00.

Now I'm figuring both of these with a 3 year warranty - because I think that's what they're going to go with. I can't imagine them using the TOP end cpu, or a 100gb/7200rpm hard drive.......... but I think they might be appropriate for this series. If that's the case - figure in a couple hundred more for the Napa model --- and a couple hundred at least for the "lamborghini" version.........

So.. if they go with the top end cpu and top end hard drive...... It will EASILY be over 3 grand...... I think as much as $3,500..... If they drop down to the 2nd fastest cpu and say a 120gb/5400rpm hard drive...... I think you could take off probably $400 *maybe* $500... but I think we'd still be looking at breaking 3k.

Im willing to spend more for a nicer machine but to me $3500 is a waste for a laptop. Just because i upgrade so often that its not worth the loss. But i guess we will see what the prices are when they come out.

Well, like I said... it is going to have a LOT to do with the configuration. Right now the standard V6va is $2,000..... but just maxing out the cpu, ram, hard drive can jump you up at least another $800.

I for one next suggest using the top end cpu o buying more than you need...... but this is going to be a different animal. For you, you may rather have barebones and just swap your parts over to a new system - you upgrade so often........ but these models are looking for an entirely new audience altogether.

Well I'll be in the market for a new machine soon (months-1yr) I've looked at the ferrari by acer which had a great price and looks but it was a bit weak for instance its hd was only 5400rpm

Also what kind of graphics do you think it'll be packing? And how much will it weigh/battery life?

I like to buy high end and keep for a few years before upgrading. Plus Asus has a great reputation whereas acer I don't like nearly as much.

Well it's undetermined at this point as Asus doesn't even have finalized designs on the 2nd or 3rd models in the line...... and this first model based off the V6 was basically just painted up for CES with the new lid...... the insides are going to be similiar to the V6j and cpu, hdd, ram aren't even in the picture yet. Asus will simply say it's going to be "expensive" and it's going to be limited and see how it catches on. That makes me believe that may go all out with this model as they are only going to target a small group of people to get the word out on this new line......... once that happens they hope to get into more models once the word has spread.

I don't think there is a huge market for laptops above the $2500 mark...at least in North America. Most people who want a high end laptop seem to aim around $2000 give or take a few hundred. Now if Asus did their homework they should know this and if they want to make the Lambo a recognizable force they can't price it too high.

My guess is that it's going to be $2499.

Again.... everyone can say the same thing, but it's all about the configuration. The V6va right now is 2 grand... but the configuration could be higher...... The V6va IS that high-end notebook........... what they are aiming for is the ultra-highend market ---- hence the most likely, super high configuration and limited nature of the production..

.... it has the be better than whatever Asus offers the V6j for...... either that, or they make this first lambo model a semi high-end.... maybe just a bit above what the V6va is now.... and then the V6j would be a lower configuration and cheaper.......

The big thing is all-out performance and making a name for themselves in terms of no holds barred design, quality and performance..... so they're going to have to seperate the normal ensembles from this seperate line.... so you can guess at a price, but you're not basing it on reality....... they could indeed end up being the price, but the configuration would be not all that different from the current V6va offering then........ since we already know the V6j will have a $200-300 premium over the current model, it wouldn't leave much in way of seperating this series from the rest of what Asus is doing.....

Well, look at the Acer TM 8204. That is pretty much maxed out with all the new stuff available. Granted it might not have the most awsome built quality, but from the review it seems to be around Ferrari quality which is pretty good. Street price of that thing is already around $2300 and its not even shipping in NA yet. Except for the screen maybe, in terms of components it doesn't get much better.

I get the super greates bestest of all notebooks ever thing...but if no one buys it they can't make a name for themselves either.

Well since the first Lambo model is a V6 model with a different lid and a paintjob....... you can go by that and the cost of that............ plent of people are buying the V6va...... plenty. I don't know if it would be popular maxed out - becasue no one seems to really want that..... but if we were doing this limited edition, all out performance model..... why not? On that level you're more comparing yourself to voodoo - who doesn't sell a lot of computers, but they make a lot of money on the ones they sell and they've made a name basically just for that.

VoodooPC has the Z71V with a paint job... starting price is $2800!!! That's a hell of a lot of money for an old model. Basically for a decent set up, it'll be way over $3K. $2000 for the paint job.

I know retail is $2500, but who pays retail if you can have it for $200-$300 less?

And according to several retailers it should ship late Jan early Feb.
