    Hi Guys,

    I am planning to buy a F6V from newegg which comes with a P8400 CPU (TDP:25W). Do you know if it will violate the thermal limits if I upgrade this to a T9400 CPU (TDP:35W)?

    The same question arises if I upgrade a T9400 (TDP:35W) in F8Va to a Q9100 (TDP:45W)...

    Thanks,

    (I know this will void the warranty but that is not an issue...)

    The temperature differences between 10W TDP are pretty minimal, so it should not be a problem. Why not upgrade the P8400 to a P9500 though? It's the 25W version of the P9400.

    I agree, if your going to the t9400 just pay the $20 extra and get the p9500... Same speed as new one and same power/thermal of your old one. Best of both worlds.

    Technically no it will not violate any thermal limits, the F6V will likely support the T9400 CPU just fine. Most modern built-in heatpipe coolers in Notebooks will support anything less than 45W

    On the contrary, my F8Sn was upgraded to an X9000 which is 44W! I didn't notice any difference in temperature, infact, it was lower on idle (probably due to it's design efficiency).

    @ Hep! and Bryanu;

    Yeah, I know; P9500 will make much more sense but I already have a T9400 in my F8Va, so I am planning to upgrade it to a Q9100 and use the T9400 in the F6V..

    Hmm. Thanks for the useful info! That's what I was looking for...
