I went to Best Buy today to look at the Sony SZ and Macbook, when I saw that they had the G1 on display!
I actually fell in love with it from the minute I saw it.
At first I didn't know it was an Asus, even though I have been eying the G1 online for a few days, I thought; "that looks cool", so I walked over.
Sure enough, I saw the green lights and the shiny black lid, and started playing around on it.
One of the most comfortable keyboards around, didn't compare to the Sony FZ I looked at, or any of the Gateways and HP's.
It was 1599 in the store, which matches this link:

But then what is the X1? Which is cheaper than the X3.

The green lights didn't bother me, and when I picked it up it didn't seem too heavy, and the bottom was really cool (not hot at all!)
It was also on display as the Gaming laptop where you could try the latest games, it wasn't on though, so I don't know how the 8600 performs.
So is there anywhere I can get this thing cheaper? I was actually looking for something around $1400-$1500, but I guess I could go over for the X3 since I will be using it for a while.
If you can tell me anything about where to buy, the performance, and the difference I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Also, the 8600 GT performs like a champ, IE I'm playing CoD4 at almost max settings on 1280x768 (or something like that) resolution with almost no droppage in frames anywhere except with a ton of smoke. However, you might want to wait to see where these new 8800 GTS, and 8800 GTX cards come into play (IE, the new alienware laptops). Honestly, I do kinda regret my decision. But, that's only because I should have bought a smaller laptop (like a xps 1330), and instead upgraded my desktop to game. But, oh well. I'm quite happy with my G1s.
ASUS members I have some questions :)
