I'm unable to get the "black bars" in gaming using lower resolutions specifically at 4:3 aspect ratios. I've been searching on how I could achieve this on this laptop, however there aren't the same kind of options in the NVidia CP that there are on the desktop cards. I would have just changed it to "NVidia fixed aspect ratio scaling" but there's no option that gives that effect.

Has anyone successfully gotten the "black bars" with this laptop/540m video card?

What Forceware version are you using?
You might have to turn on advanced options but under Display >> Adjust desktop size and position are my options for aspect ratio scaling (I know this works with 279.xx and 280.xx drivers). I don't like stretched images either.

I'm using 280.26 drivers and I don't see anything that sounds like "adjust desktop size and position" All I see is the scaling option, and customize aspect ratio which changes the scaling for everything not just applications using different ratios.

    Thanks for the reply

These are the only options in the NVidia control panel.
