Camsd85, I've personally asked Asus Singapore Marketing and Sales team on the W7J, frankly, they don't have any news yet like the ETA etc.. they conservatively projected probably around July onwards... I doubt in your latest posting that the merchant claiming to have the W7J in stock to be true.... Looking at the reputation and whos working with Asus closely in this forum, if anybody's news is going to be dependable, then its probably Proportable.

I decided to go with the W5F as I needed it now... but if time permits, I could have toyed with the idea of W7J.. however... its 13.3" and 2kg whereas the W5F is 1.6kg... I am used to a X-series thinkpad weight so anything else (>1.9kg) feels heavy to me.. so the W5F IS THE IDEAL CHOICE for me.. :)

Well I can say that those french websites are legit, and are listing the W7, with one or two listing it as available now. Although until one places an order this is unconfirmable. However since ASUS offically announced this notebook over a week ago notebook, I dont see why people are finding it difficult to believe that its starting to appear in shops....this is what is supposed to happen!
It also fits the time line that has been proposed by me and many others, that is end of may early june....right after the Macbook is release, I would put alot of cash down that apple didnt want the W7 released before the macbook given the similarities and that ASUS was making both. If ASUS can produce over a million macbooks in a month, then a thousand or two W7s arent out of the question.
Its also not uncommon for various models to be released at different times throughout the world, ASUS might see europe as a key target market for the W7.....thus its early release here....Its happend many times before and will happen again.
What does this mean for the USA ETA ??? ask justin cause I dont really care, the W7 is here in france so Im all set...sorry for the gloating
    a
    :)

I just can't get over how nice this notebook looks. If Asus markets this product right I think they could swing a large portion of the crowd that goes to Macbooks. The white machine in particular is a killer.

I think both colors are extremely attractive, and the 13.3 size is ideal for me (and likely a lot of folks). I believe that Fujitsu has stopped making their 13.3" models, and so the Sony SZs and the Macbooks are the major competitors in this size range. I could see consumers getting very excited about this notebook!

...I'm personally still hoping to see a Built-On 13.3" Asus hit North America. Apparently the z35f may or may not make it to our shores. Oh well, guess I'd have to suck it up and get a W7J! :p :D

What's this about the Z35F? I hadn't heard that there was a question about its release in the US. Can anyone elaborate? THanks

I wonder if the webcam can swivel 180 degrees like the W5 series, or if its fixed.

The w3j is plastic also. Only the lid is metal and super thing metal. I have used both the v6va and the w3v and i think the v6va plastic lid is more durable. and the w7 should have the same plastic lid. so really that shouldnt be a factor in what you buy. if it had a metal palm rest thats different that makes more of a difference in durability.
