The the recent CeBIT Hannover 2004 exhibition ASUS anouched its plans for its next notebook the W1N, and its first foray into the mobile multimedia notebook.

From the pic and initally details I'm guessing that this will try and differentiate its self from HP and toshi offerings by coming in much lighter, and thus more mobile. I'm hoping that this means the notebook will have a PM with an ATI 9700, and keeping it at around 3Kg. But time will tell.

    W1N Wide Screen Notebook
"The W1N comes equipped with a 16:10 (15.4 inch) display and subwoofer speaker for high-quality surround sound. Also included are powerful graphics performance, a TV tuner card, an ultra-slim remote controller enabling convenient operation, advanced battery-conservation feature, and innovative designs that are aesthetically and ergonomically superior. This powerful machine enables portability without compromising performance."

    I'm very jealous!!
Did find some basic spec's for it though. Looks like its just a M6 specs wise just with different case, nice speakers and a tv tuner card/remote! No idea about weight yet but I'm guessing it will be around 3Kg. It will have a PM, with the Dothan available in June ! and an ATI9600 64Mb only. Was hoping they may go with 128 pro or the 9700 but alas not to be. Did read an article that ATI was going to have the 9700 in laptops from day one & that ASUS was going to be one of these??? time will tell.
Let us know if you pick up any extra info, and what your impression of the notebook are!

I don't think I like the looks of that hinge. What a place for grime and other bad stuff to accumulate.

I can't agree with that, Brian. At least there is space there between the body and the screen housing. On traditionally hinged lappys there isn't any. If you want to clean, I'd move for this one.

On the other hand, if you want your lappy to lay flat on the table, then this one isn't the right choice...
