It's a shame they both come with an built-in Optical Disk Drive. Without the Built-in ODD the either would've been very appealing to me.

This popped up at Asus Shop Slovakia

    ASUS ZENBOOK UX42VS 14/ i5-3317/ 24GB+750GB/ DVDR/ 6G/ Win8
    Model / Kód : ASUS-UX42VS-W3015H
    Display 14" HD 1366x768
    Memory: 6GB (2GB DDR3 1600 MHz onboard + 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz in slot)
    Expected release: Nov 21, 2012
    999,00 € ~= $1279 USD

I'm so disappointed at the screen resolution, I am absolutely hoping for a i7/1080p variant.

Those have been on the Asus website for a long time. The UX52VS comes with a 1920x1080 IPS display. The UX52VS with the i7-3517U should retail for about $1600. The UX42VS (i7-3517U) for about $1300.

I'm sorry, I knew the 15" details were readily available, I was under the impression that details for the UX42 were not. Since the UX32VD comes in both HD display at 1366 x 768 pixels and the Full-HD 1920x1080 IPS panel, is there a possibility the UX42VS will come with that option?

The UX42VS is intended to be the lower-priced model of the two. The corner Asus chose to cut was screen resolution.

What's going on with the UX52vs? I can't find a review of it anywhere or any videos on youtube... It seems like a bigger UX32vd which is exactly what I need. I don't like the proprietary SSDs and high price of the UX51vz.

I woud like to upgrade it to a Samsung 840 SSD .
