    Yeah thats probably true

humans always focus on the bad things. good deads go unknown basically.

but i swear im like a magnet for bad luck. at first i thought i was being "paranoid" thinking like that. but like a year later i came to the realisation its the truth.

i would bet money id be one of the unfortunate souls to end up with the dead pixel. oh welllllllll

sorry if I mis-read your post Lyricist...

O and, ya, these re-sellers are selling the "no dead pixel Policy" on top of the price you pay for these asus notebooks for $200. This is only good for the first month of purchase.

Dead pixels on these Machines (z70va & Z71) should not be present as long as the Machine is "Brand new".

Heh... my M6Ne has two stuck pixels... stupid me, I could have gotten the panel replaced, but I ended up not doing it; procrastination has a way of always getting to me...
by the time I actually wanted to replace it, my 30 days were up :p

My new Z63a has no dead/stuck pixels though... or at least I haven't seen any yet.

Yes, the V6V/Va has the speaker output along the palmrest... but just like any other notebook out there, I'm sure the sound is just as "tinny."

Who ever really uses the laptop speakers most of the time anyway? i sure don't :D

Ok so since the stuck/dead pixels can appear later on...

    umm Ok wait.

Let me just ask- is there ANY WAY to get a brand new screen?

Like not only for dead pixels but what if your screen cracks or something..

Pretty much no, because most of the times, the screens are not made by the same company, thus does not count. Most companies nowadays use Samsung or LG screens.

The thing about ASUS barebones is that, you can easily ask resellers(Of course, reputable ones) to check the screen before shipping it out

I know your pain. I bought a W3v at beggining of september and for the second time in 2 month, my W3V is in repair center for screen concern (it took 3 weeks for the first repair). The first time Asus Canada replace the screen but both the stock and the replacement unit had some MAJOR defects plus at least 1(3 for the first one and 1 for the second) stuck/dead/bright pixels. Both screen were plagued by some kind lcd defect that looked like dust part inside the the pixel array(which touch at least 4 or 5 adjacent pixels). I own 6 laptop (1 Apple, 3 Toshiba, 1 IBM, 1 Asus) and my W3V is the first laptop cursed with that kind of problem.

I tried to get refund but my dealer said he cannot take the laptop back because i bought it more than 30 days ago. At least my dealer talk to Asus and try to get me a completely new unopenned box. I will be aware today or tomorow if he succeed. If i receive an unopenned box, i think i will just sell it and by an IBM lappy.

Call me stupid but what is the point of even producing these screens that CAN DEVELOP dead pixels if you cant get the screen replaced?

there must be a way to get a screen replacement even if it means going directly to samsung (in the event they made it) and purchasing.

I guess not only with dead pixels..but if something just happens to your screen..accidental damage and what not.

LCD Technology is still new(Although old in technology terms..) and a deadpixel free solution hasn't been found. Every LCD contains millions of pixels, it's too time consuming to check every pixel I would guess, and most people who do have DP don't bother to return it.

I wonder what happens to screens with dead pixels that are returned...?

    It's just business conspiracies :p

Dead laptop LCDs are not easy to replace.

In terms of 'developing' dead pixels, I have a 4 year old Toshiba laptop sitting here that doesn't have any.

I can see why people worry about it, though. I bought my first desktop LCD, a Hyundai L90D+ with the 8ms panel (Samsung I think) this summer and I was quite nervous until I got it all unpacked and tested. No problems even after shipping it across the country at the end of the summer, carting it to school, etc. It's hands down the best monitor I've ever had.
