I did a search here and found this ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/238722-w7j-memory-upgrade.html) but that's several years out of date and got the same question. I'm aware of window7s patch for the capped RAM on 32 bit systems, and I plan on buying

    Newegg.com - Patriot 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model PSD38G1333SK

    or

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ

and give my cousin the other stick. So my question is, will 1333MHz work on this notebook since the stock is 533MHz?

No, the RAM will not work, you need DDR2 RAM for that laptop, any DDR2 RAM SODIMM should work.

If you're thinking about PAE, you can forget it right now. PAE is a, essentially, a bugged up feature that is only used in corporate environments with a PAE-aware OS, PAE-aware system drivers, and PAE-aware programs and utilities. Trying to make this work on a home system is not worth the time.

yeah, but its fine, it seems that ddr2 memory caps at 2gb anyways (pricewise). So 2gb + onboard 512mb, 2.5gb on the 32bit system, i think im safe?

don't see any deals for it however >< gonna check ebay...
