I called ASUS and asked if I purchased someone elses laptop if the warranty was trasnferable and the guy I spoke with said yes. However, I always find you get different answers from people.

So does anyone know for sure that the warranty is transferable?

    I'm still searching online.

    Thanks

Well if the ASUS contact said yes, then it's most likely yes. It wouldn't hurt to have it in writing, so maybe you could email them as well, and hope for a "yes" answer in writing. :) You could use such an answer if you have problems later on.

I guess the "in writing" part of my message didn't sink in. ;)

Talk about making me feel bad.

I e-mailed them and the y replied with the following:

    "Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for supporting ASUS products.

We apologize that you have encountered this problem.
    yes,you are right.
you can registered the product if you buy it

    Sorry for the inconvenience!"

That response from Asus TS doesn't really say anything about a warranty being transferable from one individual owner to the next, however, which one would need for supporting evidence; unless one of the resellers can shed more definite light on the topic......? The response seems to assume purchase from a reseller/retailer and not third-party personal exchange.

I specifically asked if the 2 year warranty and accidental 1 year coverage was valid/transferable and they said yes. Just as long as I have the supporting documentation.

Yeah, I was a bit unkind there, I apologize for that. Sometimes, I get annoyed when people don't fully read replies (even though I'm guilty of that myself, at times).

Anyway, if you have it in writing, it's better. I suppose their reply quotes your original message, in which case "yes, you are right. you can registered the product if you buy it" can be interpreted as a confirmation that you can transfer the warranty, even though they may not have read your message carefully and have interpreted it wrongly.

I have the original e-mail and case number.

It only makes sense that they would honor the warranty if I had all the supporting documents.

Someone asked me the same question before,

there is no way to be transfered. But it doesn't matter.

Because if you don't have the purchase recepit, they will use the original shiped date as your purchase date. So you don't need to offer any documents when you try to obtain warranty.
