I'm wondering why the ATK0100 ACPI driver is given for each notebook seperately. Each notebook has a different version of it, while they are compatible with eachother.
Everytime I install my operating system, it takes hours to find the latest ATK0100 driver on ASUS FTP site, because ASUS stopped updating my notebook's (M2400N) download page years ago.
Findin an updated audio and modem driver is another pain in the ass. Sigmatel doesn't share updated drivers with end-users, Actiontec (or Agere or something else--it has several different brands! Unbelievable) doesn't have a site containing updated drivers... The only updated drivers I use are Intel's chipset, wireless and video drivers, Synaptic's touchpad driver and Realtek's ethernet driver.
This driver problem is also valid for my ASUS USB modem. The drivers on the models download page doesn't work with my modem! I'm limited with a crappy driver that comes from the bundled modem CD...
Is it same for you as well? What things you do for it?
Thanks.
