I DID find the download for the 7.2 mobile catalyst drivers.. but they don't include support for the x1700 so the install failed :/

Has anyone else out there had some luck, or have anything insightful to help me with? :)

Just looking for better OpenGL support, as the current vista cats I have installed (default that came with the f3jp) say they have no opengl support at all.

    Thanks!

The only thing can do is waiting or calling ATI.AMD,it's the second time that they ship a driver without X1700 support.I just hope there is no "hardware design bugs" inside X1700 that prevents ATI.AMD from releasing X1700 drivers.
On the other hand. The only guys that can give you better OpenGL support are the mobile catalyst drivers (and perhaps Omega drivers - use them at your own risk).Because Vista removed hardware and direct openGL support completely.Since you seem to have an interest in OpenGL Let me explain :
The GPU has some internal instructions. No one knows about them but the GPU designers - they are considered trade secrets because it seems you can figure out the architecture through them. They make some drivers that take the DX and OpenGL drivers and translate them into the GPU's instructions. So there are no ways for you other than :
a . To use the implementation of OpenGL through directX (there is one but it destroys all the good things that OpenGL has over DX)
    b . To wait for X1700 support.
(note : Omega drivers are nothing but patched and optimized Catalyst Drivers)
