This is for XP

awesome, thanks, I've been waiting for the 7.3 to come out.
-
Has anyone tried to install these drivers in vista? It looks like ati messed up the infi's because the mobility cards are not listed in the ini's
-
Ya, 7.2 is the last one which has Vista Mobility drivers. They are probably going to do like what they did with XP and put in a system to stop users with certain brands from downloading the drivers so they OEMs won't whine at them about users complaining about issues with drivers they've never heard of and don't care about
.
Watch out though, and check the ATI.com -> Drivers and Software -> ATI Mobility X1600 and when you see it says 7.3 then we can look at figuring out the direct link...
Cat -
can you give a direct link for vista/
-
vista catalyst 7.3 can be found here http://www.clubic.com/telecharger-pilote-0-3893-pilote-ati-catalyst-vista.html
-
Using this with my A8Ja with a X1600, don't see much performance difference compared to the 7.1. Always nice to have the newest drivers though.
-
Will this work on my X1700?
-
-
I am also running it - on Vista Home Premium
-
there's a strange problem. i installed the drivers, but the CCC still reports catalyst 7.2, but if i try to update again it already says I have 7.3?
-
What version is the driver in CCC? If it is listed as 8.342 something then you have Catalyst 7.2 installed. If it is listed as 8.351 then you have 7.3.
CCC and Driver are different, but if you don't use CCC to change anything then you won't notice a difference if you just install the driver.
Cat -
Is there a modtool for vista, a way to get the x1700 added in the ini for the vista drivers?
-
the 7.3 supposedly works with X1700 so try it.
Doesn't work for me though, says it couldnt find any components to be installed for my rig
As for the performance over the 7.1, opengl is supposed to benefit a good boost -
Guys,
Please post the link to download Catalyst 7.3 for ATI X1700(for Vista 32bit). I didt find X1700 option in AMD site. All the thread shows link to XP only. Thanks. -
The link above does work, click on "telecharger"
Also notice there's a new oem driver 8.333 on asus's website -
Guys,
same problem here:
ASUS G2P top gaming note on Home premium Vista32 runs most of the games like on my old A7V... maybe ltl bit worse. 3Dmark06 gives me 2300 points.(
Im tryin to update X1700 drvs on asus site, but new oem 8.333 intalled 7.1.1.569 drv, wich is from 7.1 Cat. Package 7.3 from ATI web-site not recognized my X1700 and install nothing.
Any ideas how to update? I tried to manual install from extracted 7.3 pack and find only RADEON X1700 FCS wich is not mobility... card start to overheat and fps was still low.
Plz help. -
Hoo-Ah! For our German friends!
7.3 installed from http://www.asustreiber.de/download.php?list.75 -
I read a lot of horror stories about catalyst 7.3, and on AMD/ATI's site, you can't download 7.3 (ie, vista(32),mobility radeon,) the newest they have for mobility radeon is 7.2
I'm using a W3J (X1600) will the driver you uploaded work for me? -

So? Are there any performance increases? -
If you are seeing reduced performance:
By default (for some reason), the driver sets 3d performance to "maximum power saving" rather than "maximum performance" for both AC power and battery. Change this and the problem is solved. -
Are the Mobility Catalyst Drivers the same as the regular Catalyst Drivers?
If not, does anyone have a direct link to just the drivers without the Catalyst Control Center? I am running Windows XP, not Vista. I think that:
http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/
must be the complete CCC package according to the size of the file.
Thanks in advance! -
Mobility Catalysts are NOT the same as non-Mobility Catalysts.
The link you have there is correct. Those are the drivers for XP. -
So where can we download Mobility Catalysts for Windows Vista?
-
I just installed the new 7.3 drivers in my V1Jp running on windows XP. Then i ran 3dmark06 test and showed me a score improvement of 31 points ( from 2159 to 2190 ). I don't know if that is a significant improvement but it improved my score and the previous drivers I used I downloaded from ASUS. I also played Oblivion for an hour and the game ran fine with no hang ups.
-
Thanks again! -
Sorry Nilex, if you just wanted to save size on the download you won't get that - the package contains both the CCC and the drivers.
However, if you don't want to install CCC you can do a quick install through Device Manager (advanced) or just do a Regular Custom install with the ATI installer and select not to install CCC and other extras, but just to install the drivers.
This is technically a bit of a hackup that we get to access it at all. Be happy that we can get it so easy and don't have to wait for ASUS to release new ones - and let me tell you, ATI will be posting and supporting us with new drivers for our cards long after ASUS has moved onto the next big thing...
