Anyone running the ATI drivers on thier W3V? Any noticible improvement over the OEM ATI/Asus driver? Asus doesn't seem to release drivers as quickly as ATI does...

    Thx.

IRC, you can't use ATI's reference drivers on their mobile video chipsets. You have to wait for the manufacturer or use omega drivers.

naszero: you are incorrect. All you have to do is go here: http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

That is a direct download link to the latest mobile catalyst driver. And I defenatly recommend downloading ATI Catalyst over both Asus drivers & Omega Drivers. I got instability issues with omega that are non-existant in ATI Catlyst.

Although I'm not a big fan of the ATI Control Centre.. :-(

Great! Thanks for the tip! I was going to ask about the Omega drivers as well, but couldn't remember the name when I was posting originally.

With the current stock drivers, I sometimes get that rainbow edge around the screen when Alt-Tabbing from Games.

I tried to find the driver off ATI's website and it lead me to this page:
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=19546

I tried it and it said ATI Catalyst was not compatible with my X600 on W3V :(

As far as I know there is no offical support for the ATI mobility drivers on ASUS notebooks. Thus to get them to work you will still need to do the hack/mod...you can find the tool to do this at driverheaven.
Personally after trying all 3 major drivers, I have stuck with stock drivers on my M6ne....they were the best for stability, and also for speed.
