well, they released it. and i downloaded it.
took me a few hours before i made the decision to install them on my W3J because of the looping reboot issue present in the 6.11 drivers.
well, i tried it and no looping reboot issues. looks like they fixed it.
get it while it's hot!

Many would suggest revert back to Catalyst 6.8 drivers, which I believe others mentioned it is their most stable driver for most W3J users, so have a look at that too.
Also compare 3DMark05/06 with the new drivers, plus can you give temperature differences using the new drivers compared to your previous drivers. -
havent done any benchmarking on this notebook before, but i'll give it a shot. speedfan's giving me temps for cpu and hd, but im getting 2 other readings: remote temp and temp 1. im assuming the remote temp is the chipset temp and temp 1 is the vid card temp. or is it the other way around?

I am having a problem with my one week old W3J. I installed 6.12 drivers and with the battery power only it was looping reboots. I uninstalled, tried 6.11, same problem. 6.10, 6.9, etc. Same problem.
I'm on the verge or returning this laptop at this point. Is there any fix or even any word from ASUS about this issue? What version are the stock drivers on the utilities disk? Catalyst Control Center lists the 2d Driver version as 6.14.10.0362. Same for Direct3D and OpenGL versions. Does this mean I have 6.14 drivers installed stock? Is that even possible? I thought 6.12 were the latest? Is my problem because I'm driving to revert to older drivers?
Please help. -
well... i think i know why the looping reboots are occurring. i didnt get any looping reboots when i installed the 6.12 drivers. what i did was i installed the driver while my notebook was plugged to the outlet. i remember with the 6.11 drivers, i installed it while running on battery. i think that's how i got the looping reboot problem. but now, im not getting any looping reboots while running on battery.
so im sorta coming to the conclusion that you shouldnt get any problems if u install the drivers when it's running on AC mode -
disable powerplay.. problem solved.
-
What/where is Powerplay? How do I disable it?
This is on a fresh installation of Windows XP. I scrapped the ASUS installation and didn't use the recovery discs to install XP. I installed from my own personal copy. -
I used Driver Cleaner Pro after installing 6.11 and it worked but I had to go through a bunch of uinstalling/reinstalling before I got it to work. -

I personally still suggest using Mobility Catalyst 6.8 Drivers.
They are most stable in my opinion and provide the best performance. -

Guess what?
Can you believe Driver Cleaner isn't free anymore?
What *******s. -
Well, I got the 6.8 drivers to work, so I'm sticking with that.
Anyone know what version the stock drivers are that come on the CD? -

LARM, i stated that above, but I should have made it more clean, Catalyst 6.8 drivers are well tested amongst the forum, many have stated that this will STOP the Reboot problem, so I suggest anyone still experiencing it, please try these drivers first. -
-
The release notes do not list ASUS as a supported ODM, why is this?

In order to download the 6.12 drivers you have to install some kind of verification tool. My Z96J did not pace the test to get the drivers. *Shrug*
Any ideas?

Orius,
AMD-ATI's site is unfriendly to us Asus people.

This gets you the 6.12 drivers (33MB file). Good luck. -

I can confirm stability issues with my W3J. Specifically, unplugging the power didn't cause a hard shutdown but resulted in a sudden regular Windows shutdown without a reboot. It also decreased my 3DMark05 score by 27 points (4361 -> 4334
). I rolled back to 6.10 which has been fully stable and has given me the highest scores. I'm looking forward to playing Battlefield 2 when I get home to really make some use of what I paid for...

I am using the latest Omegas... still based on 6.9 Catalyst and have no problems when gaming. -
I WAS running 6.8 and didnt have the reboot looping issue on battery and recently updated to 6.12. Now running 6.12 and no reboot loop! Pretty pumped i dont notice any change in performance though so ... dont fix what isnt broken 6.8 users.
-
After going from 6.10 to 6.12 I'm getting shut down/endless reboots when running off of battery so beware. I'm going back to 6.10.
-
I upgraded from 6.8 to 6.12 after reading this forum.
I have the power plug in when I upgraded.
Later I boot the computer with battery. The computer went to sleep
when I did not use it for a while. So, I press a key to wake up the computer and I found that I got this continous loop of rebooting.
The problem was not solved even after I plugged back the power line.
I then removed 6.12 (reboot in safe mode) and installed 6.10 and it work fine now. I do not play game and therefore I guess I may not see the problem other people have with 6.10. (need to upgrade to Active X 9.0) -
