Hi All,
Just noticed ATi released a new driver set late last week. I tried installing them and windows said that my current driver (12/2005) is a better match. Is the way around this to uninstall and then install the newer INFs?
Thanks!

I would also like to know.
-
can you give a little bit more information ? what laptop are we talking about ? where did you get the update from? stuff like that
-
I just installed Cat 6.7 on my Z96J. No problems. Will be restarting in a minute and re-running 3D mark.
-
do you mean just regular catalyst 6.7 or mobility catalyst? if the desktop version, does it support powerplay? i would really like to be able to get driver updates without using omega drivers or relying on asus to get driver updates out.
-
Good drivers IMO, same scores in benches as with Omega's 6.6
-
Mobility Cat drivers. You can't put ATI desktop drives on a notebook. Not without modding them(e.g. Omega's).
I get same score basically with Cat. 6.7 as I did with 6.6, and with Asus drivers and Intel drivers. I think Cat. 6.7 just resolved some issues with certain games, nothing much new for performance. -
Is there an option to disengage Hypermemory by any chance in the BIOS?
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
-
Yes. It is turned on when you have 1GB or more of system ram. In most cases it won't have an impact on performance. However, if you are playing something that needs the texture memory(Doom 3 on Ultra for example) it will make a HUGE difference. My desktop with an ATI x800xl exhibits almost no difference in framerate between 1600x1200 HIGH and 1600x1200 ULTRA. That is a 256MB card mind you.
-
um this is a little embarassing but where's the download link for the catalyst mobility? the only download link i can see on the catalyst mobility section is the "Installation Verification Software." since asus isn't on the list of supported manufacturers will it not let me download?
-
So is this worth installing on the W3J ?
-
Does this fix the graininess issues?

I would refrain from installing Catalyst Control Center unless you have RAM to spare (1.5gb+). Instead just install the drivers and then ATI Tray Tools.
-
I get a better 3D mark score using Catalyst control center configured for best image quality than ATI tray tools set for max performance. Of course, I disabled Cat control center from startup and only used it to configure my settings before exiting. Tried the same with ATT. Didn't help. Oh, and I have 1GB ram.
CAT MOB drivers have so far had no effect on the graininess. Also basically no difference in performance. Yet. Wait until they do some more driver optimizations and release newer versions. -
so uhhh... where do you download catalyst mobility?
-
I just installed the new 6.7 mobility Cat's. I was getting artifacts playing Q4 before but the new drivers seem real nice. Just make sure you remove the old drivers AND the old CCC first. The fresh install was easy and games seem much smoother now.
