    Greetings everyone!

I purchased a new G50V-A1 a few months back from ExcaliberPC, and while ExcaliberPC was great through the purchase, the laptop has been a nightmare.

    - It died 31 days (not kidding) after purchase, due to bad RAM. Sent back to ASUS, replaced.

    - Sent back without powercord and startup disk.

    - Contacted ASUS. They attempt to replace power cord, but get model wrong. No startup disk.

    - Contacted ASUS again, they send power cord, no startup disk. Total time working at this point: 31 days. Time down: almost two months.

    - Frustrated, I install XP. They finally send startup disk a few weeks ago, after six calls to customer service, three of which ended with "we'll send it" and then nothing.

All of which would be fine (well, not really), if I had a working laptop now. I do not. I've noticed the G50V running markedly hot to the touch, and markedly slower. I installed RivaTuner, HD Tune Pro, and 3dMark06 tonight, and here's the damage:

HD Tune Pro: Average 77.3 mm (marginally better than Vicious's)
Idle Temp: 80c, spiking well above 100 when graphics card is in use.
    3DMark06 Score: 1644

So, obviously, my HDs are fine, but I'm running insanely hot, and my 3DMark is atrocious. Disabling PowerMizer had not helped. Look like another RMA to everyone? What should I tell them I suspect is wrong - a mismounted heatsink? The outside of the case on the lower left gets painfully hot fairly quickly.

I want to stress that Excaliber treated me fairly through the order process. I do wish the warts of this monster had shown sooner, however.

    Thanks!

EXCALIBER are great. I ordered from them too, eventhough I am in Europe. Your model is faulty again. My U6 is hotter than the average bear but my idle temps are nowhere near yours.

Send it back. It is broken....

definitely too hot. depending on the environment, gpu idle shouldnt be more than 50 and cpu 30. during stress, i get no more than 89C and 63C, and thats with both gpu and cpu oc'd to the max.

you could say the heating assembly is improperly mounted, and/or that every game plays like crap. if they refuse it, towel it up...
