Ok so the prices finally dropped a bit on the G2S. Im going to buy it this week but I have 1 question.

Im not particularly fond of Vista. Especially the basic edition that the laptop comes with. Is there a way that I could use xp on this laptop? I have a copy of Xp Pro that I could install so thats that. Any opinions/suggestions?

Plus whats the best place to order it from? Im thinking of Gen-Tech

You can put Xp-pro on there since its already been done with the G1S, i wouldnt think there is a great difference if any, there are a couple of threads on this already give em a search if youd like. I dont know much on it only been checking up the XP port as i was considering it. Just search G1S and XP should find lots. Good luck.

i'm sure you can use xp pro with the g2s. most os(es) are independent of hardware. you'd just need to go to the asus website to ensure that you download and use the appropriate drivers for the g2s.

Someone on here posted a link to a full list of Vista drivers for the G1S, so that may apply for the G2S as well. Do a search of this forum (I believe). I have it bookmarked at home, so if I remember I will post the link here when I finish work, provided you haven't found it yourself by then.

If you want to do a dual-boot install with Vista already installed, it's not quite as simple as just installing XP. As I am planning to do this sometime, I have found all the info I need on it, and I have those pages bookmarked too, should you want to consider that.

Ok I have an URGENT question. Im ordering it tomorow. The A1 seems to be cheaper and readily available. The only difference I see is that the resolution is different. I know its worse but whatever, I dont want to spend another 150 or whatever it is. :/ sucks not being rich.

ALSO! I am planning on ordering from Gen-Tech, and instead of the 160gb hd 5400rpm Im thinking of paying the extra 119 and getting the 100gb 7200rpm hd. Good idea?

The A4 version is readily available, A1 is in shortage, not the other way, there was a small A1 shipment arriving Fremont yesterday. For a big screen like that, higher resolution feels better. Asus makes A4 model is just becaue the A1 screen is in shortage.

I think the mean difference is the resolution of the display.
check in amazon they sell the g2s a4 and have the spec for it, don't have the link
