I"ve sold my W3J notebook becasue I needed something even more portable(W3J is great but i'm picky)

I used to have a W5Ae and absolutely loved it. I've pretty much decided on a W5Fm. This notebook is strictly for school so gaming is not very important however silence is very important. My Old W5Ae was silent. Could the W5F owners chime in with their experiences in terms of the notebook's noise level. I can't imagine having the new T7200 CPU in it would make any difference in heat output.

I've also thought about the S6F but i'm thinking its a bit out of my price range.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Just remebered, Justin you mentioned the S7M in your post about upcoming models, any ETA on those models.

Ugh one last things does this model (W5Fm) come with the upgrade to vista as well.

Silvr6 when do you want to purchase the notebook, I know school starts soon, so you may want to get one real soon, than wait for the W5 with the LCD on the lid that takes advantage of vista. It also sounds like the W5FM is the peft laptop for you.

I bought my W3J from milestone PC very satisfied. Looked on your site but didn't see the W5Fm model listed, is it a model you can get in?

As well the W5 with the external screen, is the external screen only compatible with Vista or can you use an OS like XP Pro on it. I could only imagine that it will be released near the end of the month.

As for timing I can wait a little bit, not in a huge rush, but I can't wait until the Santa Rosa platform comes out.

That W5 with the screen on the lid has been a prototype on display since early 2005. Are the actually going to produce it or are they just showing it at CES again?

I'd rather not have it, to be honest. The current implementation is too much of a bulge, it needs to be flush in with the lid.

With regards to the W5FM please email us, and ask about that in the email.

As for the W5 with the LCD on the lid, just like Jumper stated, it is a laptop that was created to show how ingenious Vista is, and to show some of the potential of vista.

    Email is in the signature.

IMO, the extra screen on the lid doesnt sound like a great idea. i have to worry about the screen getting shattered or scratched and all that. The extra screen is just extra annoyance. Plus, I dont like the look of the extra screen AND I wont know what to do with it. If having the screen on the front is so important, might as well get a tablet.

I like the idea. What it is is a way to conserve power and use the notebook as an ipod, and wait for it to tell you about emails.

    I would use it definitely.

Well it's a cool feature to have. I question the cost vs. usability factor though, as well as the durability. But if you've got the dough, and the itch, then go for it.

I took a look at the pictures of the W5 with the screen, looks kinda cool but looks like a hack job not doubt there will probably be a redesign that will look better. Another question about the smaller asus notebooks. Does the Z35F support merom or not, and does anyone have comparison pictures VS the W5f

And does anyone know if the current version comes with an upgrade to Vista (W5Fm comes with Windows MCE)

Yes, the Z35 supports merom, as does almost all other Core Duo notebooks. However, I would recommend you to look at the W7J for almost the same price as the Z35. I still think that the W5 works best for you.

The W5Fm will come with a free upgrade (plus s&h, but thats minor, $7 or so) to Windows Vista Home Premium.

The screened W5 is obviously a first gen model, so its more of a hasty addition than something that the laptop was engineered to have. I would wait for the technology to develop further before using it; I must say that the concept is very cool, if not the implementation.
