    Hi!

I'm really interested in many ASUS models (w3j, a6ja, a8jm) You know, the ones that have got 256mb 7600/x1600, but ASUS is not availabe here in mexico.

I have some family in spain, and im probably going this summer, so I can buy it there.

My question is, if something happens to my lappy while I'm not anymore in spain, what can I do to have the warranty? I've heard it has got 2 years, which is enough for me, but what happens if im not in the country where I bought it?

    Thanks a lot

As you said, Asus doesn't have an office in Mexico, so you'd probably have to get it to the U.S. Office in order to get service. If it's a global warranty, I think they should cover you (don't quote that), but you may have to go out of your way to get it to them in the event that you need to send it in for something. I'm sure someone else has studied the warranty terms in more detail than I have. It might be wise to contact Asus themselves about this.

heres a link from the ASUS Latin America site. It is in spanish, but luckily I understand some of it.

    http://support.asus.com/repair/repair.aspx?SLanguage=es-ar

    Hopefully jose can as well.

Anyways the page is called "where to repair" and states that it should be sent back to the retailor. The last statement says that ASUS can repair it as well, but there does not appear to be a South American factory. (some of the words are not in castellano? A little confusing)

There are definatly going to be complications, and to be honest, I would think about purchasing another brand. Although it would be awesome to have an asus, shipping costs are going to be rediculous, and nearly impossible to get support for your product.

Androo I got some good news to you.

First of all, Thats portuguese, thats why u didn't understand the spanish words (still dunno why it says it is es-ar) :)

Then, yea, I'm thinking of going for a dell, maybe a 9400 (if it comes back with the 7800 go) or maybe, the dv4000 (HP with x700) replacement (if any).

    Well, thanks so much
