Is there accidental warrenty for at least 3 years when purchasing asus laptops, whether it is asus built or dealer built?

If it's dealer built then it depends on the dealer. I know that geared2play has an option for accidental warranty and so does powernotebooks. You need to ask your dealer for that.

As for ensembles, there is no such option. There is only a one year and an optional three year warranty. That's it.

You can also try safeware at http://www.safeware.com/

They sell insurance that covers theft and accidents at "resonable" prices.

Anyone had any experience with them ?
What is the duration for coverage ? I got a quote of 110$ for my 1800$ system - is it only for 1 year ?

I imagine if you read through the policy, you'd find that it is 1 year. Works out quite well if you think about it. No need for a waranty anymore... if the mother board stops working, just chuck the whole laptop against a wall a couple times and call up those guys ;) You're buddy wants a laptop but can't afford to eat... call up those guys ;) Ever wanted to see what the inside of an LCD looks like... call up those guys ;)

I can't imagine only paying $110 for a $1800 system. So in a year or so, the system is outdated... no problem... just toss it on the ground, SMASH!, call up the company and get a new notebook?!?! Seems like these companys would lose money big time from people doing stuff like this.

Well i dont know about safeware but we allow one claim per customer. We wont send a new notebook we will repair the old one if it can be repaired. You have to be completely mental to toss your notebook in the ground just to get the same one back.

For accidental damage, I would look into your homeowner's/renter's insurance. I would think most companies would cover things like this in the standard policy.

i was also looking into an insurance plan for a laptop which is better than a accidental warranty since it covers theft and all that. i have a question though, do you pay that premium every month or every year?

I think premium is a choice between monthly/yearly....

As for home insurance policy, I think it only covers theft... not sure about accidental damage though..

Asus does not sell these notebooks dealers do, Most of their products have dealer warranty. If you are talking about an uncustomized w3j for example then no, We do have accidental coverage for ALL customized products even w3j.

I really like the A8jm because of it's video card and not so expensive price. However, no accidental warrenty means no asus :(.
