N53SV-XV1 has only one HD bay, being a 15.6 inch model...

Is it possible to replace the CD/DVD drive bay with a SATA caddy so I can install a 2nd hard drive? Anyone here did it before?

    thx

    yes
the metal caddies are sold for the optical drive bay. last i checked they were 30$ a pop. all you have to do is move the faceplate from your old optical drive onto the caddy so it looks "normal"

I don't think those are original ASUS made. Some 3rd party companies produce a SATA-to-SATA boxes so that you can install your HDD in it.

Have you checked e-bay? I have seen them before.
