    Hi all.
Is it possible to add a SSD drive to Asus TP500LA without totally replacing the original HDD?
    Thanks.

Well, I went and purchased it for $670+tax on sale.
    - The size seem to be bigger than regular 15.6" laptops
    - It only has SATA3, no mSATA or M2. So you only can only have 1 regular 9.4mm or 7mm HDD.
Stock HDD is 9.4mm, 5400rpm, there is nothing underneath it.
    - The screen is pretty bad. Small viewing angles and colors are washed out. It is not IPS, not even close.
    - Hard to open the back to access HDD. Need to have something thinner than nails
    - The charging cable is one of the worst I've seen. Huge bulk right where the power goes and the cable length is somewhat short.
    - Solid build, however bottom plastic feels bad to touch and makes loud noises when gently scratching with fingernails
Conclusion: I will be returning it back, not worth the money

Can I ask what version did you buy? Was it full hd or 1366x768 version?

Mine is the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LN, I have just added a Kingspec 256gb ssd to the ssd board, I had to also install a 0.5mm 12 pin ffc 30mm cable from Ali ex . Works well. Happy to give tips or pics. I believe the half msata ssd I installed is the ACJC2M256mSH also from Ali exp. Only installed for a day so will give feedback if I have issues.

Could you show me more hardware photos TQ
why need to install a 0.5mm 12 pin ffc 30mm cable and

The reason I installed it is to have a back SSD, so I have a SATA SSD and a MSATA SSD as backup. Video of how it looks here -

It is pretty easy you just flick the FFC connector up, I did it with my fingers and the place the cable in, very easy. Here is a video of how it looks -

If you have the mSSD daughter board AND the ribbon cable to connect the daughter board to the MD, then you can add an mSSD without extra parts.
My TP500LA did not come with either the board or the cable. Some seem to have the board but not the cable.
The price of hybrid HDs have come down significantly so I may return the 128GB mSSD and get a hybrid drive instead, with as much as it cost me for the 128GB mSSD and what it will cost me in addition for the board and cable.
Oh and one other thing I didn't notice right away. mSSD must be a half height. Full height is electrically compatible but won't fit with the space Asus provides.

Would anyone know if you can run windows directly from the mSata drive?
