    hey guys,

Is it possbile to lower the CPU speed in windows WHILE the unit is plugged in? PowerGear only allows me to select from High/super performance, presentation and game settings when it is plugged in. Since I have the V6 plugged in almost 24/7, i dont want to keep it on High performance--i dont want it running at high temps. I know you can do this via bios, but i dont want to restart everytime i need to adjust the speed.

    thanks again

That's a good question....... Speed step is always working, regardless..... the only thing you can't do right out of the box while it's plugged in is physically limit your speed which is what powergear is doing. Make sense?

    Thanks,

Asus V6 has been confirmed by a few people to be "OVERCLOCKABLE"

Yeah.... Asus has always had a hidden option which actually allows powergear to run in like... hyper performance mode or something.... it was always a picture of a rocketship and it was an automatic overclock of like 5% or something..

The last system I tried it on was a P4 L5 about a year ago..... but it's still supposed able to be opened.... I'm not sure if it's now a custom tweak to the bios or what.... but once it's opened, you don't even need to know anything about overclocking as powergear will select it when you select it and back to normal when you don't need it.....

    Thanks,
    Justin

Smilepak, what does the "black box" at the end of this link actually do?

    I have a V6v 1.73 GHz
