Hey guys I torn between two choices. An M15x and the new asus g73jh-a2. have configured the m15 and haggled the price down to match the price of the g73jh, but I am still unsure about which one to get. Positives for the Asus are amazing hardware wise but i am unsure about to quality of the build. Would anyone like to weigh in? maybe someone has used/own both and could help me choose which laptop would be a better. I am a 3/4 student so i go to school then straight to work so has to be kind of mobile. I have seen the M15x in person and understand that both will be huge. I will be playing SC2, Diablo 3, CS:S, FEAR 2 and plenty of other games. Will the GTX 260m in the M15x be able to keep up with the curve, or the ati 5870 in the G73jh give me a better edge. Thanks ahead of time, for any kind of advice anyone can offer me.

edge in the video card will go to g73, but ive heard it runs a little hot, the m15 will have great cooling, and a fully clocked (and probably overclockable) 260x. only advantage of the g73 is ram allotment, and the 1080 screen if your m15config doesnt have the 1080.

the m15 will be built sturdier, even tho i havent gotten hands on time with a g73 yet, going just by track records.

it actually does have the 1080 screen in the M15x config. Ive been doing extensive reading on both systems and see that both are having minor issues with a few users here and there. the waiting list for the g73 seems to be insane tho

I think you might have just answered your own question.

I considered between the m17x, G73, and Sager X8100 and have researched endlessly before finally biting the bullet tonight on the G73hA1. Here is what I found:

Sager is best build quality and best cooling, great performance
Alienware looks gorgeous and is built very well, built for performance also
Asus has great looks, good build, ok cooling, $1000 less to spend on my next upgrade when the next greatest and latest comes out in 1 year or 2 years.

Why spend over $2000 now when you know that in the next year or two you will want a new one for sure with DX11 only in its infancy. Go with the G73 and be happy :)

the Asus g73 has the best vid card for a reasonable price of $1500 which puts the alienware in the water. you would have to bump to the m17x and go SLI and an extra $1000 to truly compete performance wise. plus the 5870 is DX11 compatible so its going to be woking well into the future.

Alienware m15x is nice, but overpriced in my opinion. good screen quality solid build. rather weak performance concidering price for performance. does not have full keyboard and there have been concerns with the touchpad bieng a bit unresponsive.

The Asus is good all around with some minor concerns about the strength of its shell. good screen quality. a full keyboard with numpad. comes with a gaming mouse and 3 year warranty. good looking but not as quite flashy as the Alienware but performs better

Honorable mention would be MSI GX740-079US that is lighter than the asus and alienware and $100 less than the asus. Screen is not quite as nice as the other two and has a smaller keyboard. simplistic looks, but great performance equal to the asus.

I prefer the asus myself as its an ace in the hole when compared to similar products. Its a great buy for what you get. its what you would get if the m17x and the msi had an illigitimate child :)
