    Hi...

I just bought a new Asus A8js and everything is fine except an annoying big centered animation graphic when using the function buttons ie. when you turn the volume up and down. On my old Asus M6000 it just showed the graphic in the upper right corner (it ran XP) but now on A8js running Vista it shows the graphic in the middle of the screen which is not very convenient and annoying.

If anybody knows how to change this in any way preferably to remove the animation please let me know. I still want the fn keys to work though

    /thx

You can try disabling HControl during bootup - was in msconfig in XP, but don't know where in Vista. Else, you may just have to live with the way Vista chooses to display things :(.

Remove ATKOSD from the "Programs and Features" control panel. Once doing so, the graphic will no longer be the huge animation in the center of the screen but will instead be a small display in the top left part of the screen that is far less intrusive.

Get rid of the OSD program.

I'm sorry - I misspoke. You want to get rid of ATKOSD2 (note the "2"), not ATKOSD (although ATKOSD won't even be an option under "Programs and Features").
